Steak Tartare = heaven on a plate.

Wait... Is that a raw burger with an egg yolk on top of it? Or am I just showing my culinary ignorance here?

You haven't tried steak from a really good restaurant or a steak house. It's not bland at all and is so juicy.

Essentially yes. It's raw steak French style.

It's high quality steak that's minced with a raw yoke and spices to mix in with it.

So it's not cooked at all??? Isn't there a danger of food poisoning?

Not cooked at all. It's served in most French restaurants.

Totally agree, just saying better quality steak definitely makes a huge difference!

your right I think it depends on the quality more than anything else its easy to have a bad steak if its not particularly good to start with

I guess I can't knock it till I've tried it but I'm struggling to see the appeal!

how do you make it taste good?

salt pre cooking
use solid butter rather than oil in the pan
cook for about 3 minutes on each side
rest for a couple of minute off the heat and some pepper and serve

Youre going to choke one day if you continue to eat it under cooked and rubbery like that. Loooooool. I've seen it happen.
Where do you get your streaks from or eat it at?

Learn from her misteaks
I agree. At first I thought I was just cooking it wrong but then the restaurant served me with the exact same thing. Only difference is that I was charged £17 for the second time :colonhash:

Facepalm. Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
So much blasphemy on this thread I don't know where to start.

Steak is not over rated.

A good cut of meat; rump, fillet, rib eye will do you wonders. Especially if dry aged.

It's myoglobin.

Get your steak out. Allow to cool at room temp outside of the pack it comes in.

Get your pan REALLY hot.

THEN season with sea salt (and maybe pepper - the pepper might burn so just add at the end).

Add olive oil. Wait a lil bit. Add steak. Flip every 30 seconds. Ensure a good colour/sear on each side. Add a little bit of butter, whole garlic cloves (crushed) and sprigs of thyme. Cook for like 30 seconds.

Take steak out.

Let rest.

Stare at steak.

Look at it.

Lick it.
