:hi::hi::hi::hi:Hey:hi::hi::hi::hi:

This is GCSE Maths thread- for helping out each other OR you can ask me for any help you need...
I have many resources if you want any feel free to ask me :h:
Also this thread applies to all the exam board because pretty much all the exam boards have the same topic (it's just the way the structure set up in the exam is different)
Recently i have seen so many threads on maths asking for help and they all were repeated... :clap2::clap2::clap2:
SO i think in this thread you can ask me any help you want (higher or foundation) :yeah:
so here are some tips and helpful websites with resources that can help you to achieve the best grades you deserve
1- If you don't understand something, focus on mastering that topic before moving on to the next topic.
2- Work example problems and check your answers to gain practice with every lesson.
3- When beginning to work a Math problem, do not "map out a path from problem-to-answer" in your head before writing anything down.
4- When you study and do homework, try to find a quiet place to do it.
5- If someone asks you for help, try to explain the topic to them as best you can.
Ask your teacher to help you out
Watch videos on youtube, there are many youtubers and lessons you can look for
PASTPAEPRS is MUST
here is a website link you may find it helpful
http://www.themathsteacher.com - this link has foudation and higher topics + videos
This one, this website has pastpapers for Edexcel and AQA exam board and also has the topics with the videos: http://www.suffolkmaths.co.uk/pages/...20Revision.htm - topics and Videos and more links of other websites + pastpapers
another useful one - http://www.examsolutions.net/
Youtube channels

https://www.youtube.com/user/jayates79
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCB...DRp9NoSgnkUh7w
And many more
Or you can just look up for a topic on youtube and u will find many videos just on one topic
Me personally don't like mymaths even many teacher says do mymaths- but the reason i don't like is because, they are not in an exam structure and i prefer doing actual past paper is the best method to do and you will understand the struture too... believe me the same question comes in the exam everytime, they just changed the numbers
I have also attached two documents that may help you with the topics
I will upload the 2015 June and November Exam papers (edexcel) soon when they are release - i do have them but i am not allowed to share
Also for the new spec 9-1 grades- this link is the sample paper for maths http://qualifications.pearson.com/co...s-2015-SAM.pdf

Heya. So basically I'm struggling on the A/A* questions or topics. ILike Transformations of Graphs, I just can't seem to remember the if I'm supposed to go up or down, left or right. Alot of the A* im finding it hard. Any tips?

If the number is inside the brackets the transformation is left/right:

f(x+a)f(x+a)

f(ax)f(ax)

If the number is outside the brackets the transformation is up/down:

f(x)+af(x) + a

af(x)af(x)

Adding/subtracting by a number is a translation and multiplying by a number is a stretch.

If the number is inside the brackets then the transformation is opposite to what you would think.

E.g.

f(x2)f(x - 2)

Inside the brackets and subtract so it's a translation left/right. The -2 would suggest 2 to the left but inside the brackets is opposite so this is a translation 2 units to the right.

3f(x)3f(x)

Outside the brackets and multiply so this is a stretch up/down. The 3 suggests a scale factor of 3 and this is outside the brackets so it is a scale factor of 3.
Here is a link to the November 2015 papers, which also includes Foundation. Good-luck guys. Aim high!

This was a relatively easy exam, especially compared to June15.

And the grade boundaries reflected this.

My baseless predicition is that June16 will be between Jun15 and Nov15 in terms of difficulty.

How many hours do you revise for maths? I want my grade C :frown: didn't do too well on non calculator paper. Does anyone know if calculator paper is easier to get the marks? I need to get a C.
