It is my understanding that you can use highlighters in any exam and do whatever you like to the exam paper as long as nothing is done to barcodes and your answer is written within the lines and in black ink

That annoys me too!! It's great though, that you can take it and use it to your advantange - there is nothing to stop you still using them as competition

Wow this is fantastic - I really hope it goes well for you tomorrow

That's a lot of past papers!! I'm impressed - keep it up

Thank you so much!

Could someone help me out with this question
Thanks

Look at the Average volume of Bromine water of the Sunflower Oil, and compare this to other oils in the table. You will see that Sunflower Oil had more bromine water added than all the other oils, so it contains the most unsaturated fat percentage.

The difference between the average volume of bromine water added of Oils B and C is the same as the difference between the average volume of bromine water added of Sunflower Oil and Oil B. This difference is 3.2cm^3, and results in 8% more unsaturated fat in the oil.

So, you add 8 to the percentage of unsaturated fat of Oil B to obtain the percentage of unsaturated fat for Sunflower Oil, which is 67%. Therefore, the Sunflower Oil has 33% saturated fat, which is not 30%.

Although I have done this question before, I guess I just saw the pattern between the numbers, and looked closely at the table of data. And then, I used a bit of logic to think that the more bromine water, the higher the percentage of unsaturated fat, so my answer also made sense in the end.

I try my best... :colondollar:

I do think I am ready for them but I am quite weak at b1 and can only get into the a* boundary by one or two marks which scares the crap outta me... hoping I can make up for it with the other units lol.

In terms of revision I am going over all the past papers I have done and learning from my mistakes. I will then try and find some past paper questions for the topics I feel I am quite weak on!

What board are you doing ? The grade boundaries are really low for OCR 21st. It was 41 for an A star last year.

Problem is 41 isn't low for OCR...I've done a paper where you only needed 33 before haha

School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

(WJEC) English Language: A*
(WJEC) English Literature: A*
(Edexcel) Maths: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
(AQA) German: A*
(OCR Modern) History: A*
(AQA) Geography: A*
(OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

Apologies for joining this thread ridiculously late, but I just came across the above and could not help thinking how alike it is to my situation. These are my last mock marks:

Maths: 100/100 A*
English language: 47/50 A : (can't get an A* in this individual exams; the A* mark is calculated once all components are completed)
English literature: 60/68 A*
Biology: 53/60 A*
Chemistry: 50/60 A*
Physics: 52/60 A*
History: 40/40 A*
German Reading Paper: 40/45 A*
German Listening Paper: 33/40 A*
Art: 78/80 A*
RS: 40/40 A*

Like how you have severe Atopic Eczema, I have severe OCD so education and studying in an obsession for me, hence I mercilessly exert my all in it.
