Career in the Army

Hi,

I'm currently in lower sixth so need to start thinking about university and careers. I am interested in joining the army but preferably after uni so I have a back up career choice with my degree. My question is whether joining the army as a legal officer is worth it or whether it would be beneficial to serve just as an officer for perhaps 8 years before pursuing a career in law or the city.

Cheers,

Harry

The legal branches have all grown considerably in recent years. it's a fairly specialist area, with exposure to only certain aspects of law. it's usually possible to arrange visits to legal teams to get a good perspective of what the work is like and what exit opportunities might be.

If you are set on Law anyway, it's not anything you need to worry about in detail until you are at Uni - remembering that, as a small (but not tiny), highly specialist branch, whatever is going on now, might not be the case in 5 year's time when you are actively trying to join.

See if you can arrange a visit to a legal Office through the AFCO.
