Hello hurriya,
I am exactly in the same position as you. 1st on the reserve list for clinical engineering. I just phoned them and they said that people who have offers have till 20th to hold on to them. People on reserve might still have a chance based on what happens on 20th. May be this will give you a little comfort.

Hey joycejoy, Its horrible when you know your so close, 20th seems like a life time away. I wonder how reserves work do you just get any location or do people get to get their upgrades first?
So theres still a bit of hope till the 20th then
Hello Noala,

Just to know, did you also get a email about the offer or was it updated in Oriel?

Thanks ellie_203 :-) I'm still feeling stunned. Totally thought I'd be trying again next year.

Is this your first year of trying?or have you applied previously as well?
This whole process is just so unclear to me . I have no idea about upgrades. I also have this doubt. What happens when a place becomes available and it is your 8th preference and someone just below me on the reserve has it as their 1st preference? Would they get it or me?

Did they happen to say if there was more coming through before then that they were processing? Or did they say if the are processing them as they are received or doing offers in batches?
Thanks!

it doesn't matter if it's your 8th preference. they will offer it to you first, then if you decline it it will go to the next one on the reserve list.
they didnt say anything. But apparently all specialisms can hold on to offers until 20th. After that they might be releasing next wave in batches (similar to the first wave). This is what I feel.

I think it would be you who they would send the offer to first then depending on whether you decline or accept it would go to the next person

I got my feedback send to me today. Apparently there are individual shortlisting scores for the different domains. There are 7 numbers and they cant disclose what each domains are. So basically we dont understand where we got marked low so we cant improve next year :frown:

Hello everyone,

After 3 years of trying, I finally got an offer for Clinical Biochemistry! The offer is in Cornwall, which is very far from home, friends and family but I'm taking it as an opportunity!

I know there is only 1 position for Clinical Biochemistry at the Royal Cornwall Trust so was just wondering if anyone from another specialism is also posted there? Or if there is a current STP student in Cornwall who would be able to give me advice in regards to moving there?

Congratulations to those with offers, best of luck to those applying again next year and fingers crossed for those on the reserve list!

😊

Hi joycejoy,
Sorry, I phrased the first post badly, I meant that the offer would have expired on the 18/05 if I hadn't accepted it. So I'm guessing there could be offers appearing after that deadline?
I got an email first subject "New offer" then I logged onto Oriel and the offer was there.

Thanks very much for your response. Now I see what you meant. So they give you 48hrs to make a decision , basically. Very happy for you. You might be so happy to almost lose it and then get it back.

First year of trying.
I would advise anyone who didn't get a place and is planning on applying next year to request feedback. It's really helpful to see specifically where you went wrong.
I called the school the first wave of reserve offers nave gone out today they dont think another one will go out this week fingers crossed for all us reserves

Thank you! Yeah, don't lose hope! I honestly thought I had no chance but with all of the upgrades etc, I suppose it comes down to the locations people have picked. What specialism did you apply for?
