HOW DID EVERYONE FIND IT (new spec)??? wtf was the ten marker

It was okay! The 6-marker and 10-marker threw me off though. I only knew one policy for the 6-marker and winged the other two, and the ten marker I wrote some stuff about the ethnocentric curriculum and social hierarchy. Thoughts?
Remind me of the question again?

(For the new spec) It was something like "Explain two ways the functions of education affect educational achievement."

Hi I'm doing the SCLY 1 OLD spec tomorrow on Families and Households. Does anyone have any last minute predictions for what they think will come up? Trying to rule out some stuff

How did you find it?

Women are more likely to give up their career for a child than a man.
Women tend to get custody of their children (99% of lone parents families are headed by women).
You could also link this question to the socialisation of women and how traditionally they're expected to fulfill the expressive role.
Wtf no questions on Marxism or functionalism vague question on the 10 marker aswell... Psychology and sociology are doing some bs right now
What were you meant to write for that 10 marker?

I wrote reasons instead of policies!! so annoyed :/ apparently it was things like coursework
Guessed the first question, 10 marker threw me off but I was so happy with the 20marker. How did you all find it?

for the girls i wrote about WISE and GIST and then the national curriculum

and then for the two functions i discussed functionalist perspectives like role allocation and meritocracy about norms and values of society
I didn't know what compensation education was! For the policies I put the national curriculum as boys and girls study the same things and the equal pay act so they have something to work for, was that wrong?:s-smilie:
I used no studies am I ****ed?

I talked about the equal pay act too because now women are now more motivated. I hope so lol

Well in the mock I didn't use any sociologists and I got a B in the education paper. So nah you should be okay
Literally same I had no idea I just bullet pointed some things then carried on so I didn't waste
time

I discussed Role Allocation (Davis and Moore) and how this ensures the most intelligent people get the most functional jobs (linked in differences between classes and achievement here)
I also discussed transmitting shared culture and values as discussed by Durkheim to create a harmonic society that runs smoothy and avoids anomie. (link in how the shared culture and norms is largely constructed by the Bourgeoisie and how this affects those from lower classes)
I hope that this was what was required!!
