Just re-replying as didn't do it properly first time!
I did SCLY 1 Poverty unit this morning, did you find it ok, I was happy at the time, but can think of things I did wrong now:frown:

But, thinking positive:smile:

I found it okay, I didn't like the second question that much as I found it vague it terrifies me that I've written the wrong thing. I had to rush to finish so I didn't like how I ended it and I didn't reread so I'm hoping there's no stupid mistakes in there. How did you find it?

I also can't remember the questions. It was define the culture of dependancy (2 marks), ???????? (4 marks), disadvantages of selective benefits (6) right??:s-smilie:

That's the kind Of thing I did

I'm really worried because it said 'in the last 40 years' in the question but the only policies I could think of were Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Equal Pay Act 1970, and GIST and WISE; do you think it counts because their effects are still seen today?

1) idea of positive discimination in favour of culturally deprived children e.g. EMA, Bursayry etc
2) i talked about culture capital and how marketisation has led to low achievement among the w/c because of socialisation etc and they more likely to pick people who are seen as 'ideal pupil' etc :s

3) GIST, WISE, NATIONAL CURRICULUM (boys and girls sudy same), Triparte system (education fr all).

4) for the 10 marker i talked about social solidarity and marxists view of ideological state apparatus and legitimising class inequality

5) home factors: cultural deprivation, socialisation and material dep
inside school: labelling, marketisation

6) messed up methods in context

what do u think grade boundaries will be, how much for an A out of 60
and can someone check my answers
also did i have to evaluate for 10 marks!?

I'm not sure that tri-partite would count as it said 'policies in the last 40 years'

Is anyone going to make an unofficial sociology mark scheme?

(Sorry - misread that as grade boundaries for some reason!)

I second this - my teacher said you need 80% for an A but I'm not sure.

Start one up and get others to join in - if everyone adds the bits they remember it won't take long :yay: Let me know when it's up and I'll promote it for you so more people can contribute :h:

Fingers crossed it went okay today! :crossedf:
Is 48/60 going to be enough to get an A?
Here's the questions...

1) Define Compensatory education (2m)

2) Briefly outline and explain one marketisation policy that leads to educational achievement (2m)

3) Outline and explain 3 policies that led to the increased educational achievement of girls in the last 40 years. (6m)

4) Outline and explain 2 ways in which the functions of the education system affects pupils educational achievement (10m)

5) Evaluate the view that social class differences in educational achievement are the result of pupils home backgrounds. (20m)

6) MIC question
Item = Underacheivement of boys
Evaluate strengths and limitations of using group interviews to investigate underacheivement of boys. (20m)
Practical/ethical/theoretical

Yeah, I got 55 on the 2016 specimen paper - I was just wondering if the grade boundaries were likely to be different because I don't think I did as well on this one (thanks to the six-marker!), but thanks anyway.

Are you sure 2 wasn't social class achievement? That's what people said in my class today, but I don't remember there being anything about social class.. I wrote about league tables and linked it to gender (cant remember if boys or girls)

For the 6 marker I wrote about GIST, Equal Opportunity Act, then I couldn't think of WIST at the time. So I wrote about how female teachers come in to schools and present science technology etc to girls. And then about Education Reform Act, is one of them right or not? I had no idea haha

Thank god i wrote about about GIST and equal opportuntity too!

Q2) was about marketisation policy

Yes, I know, but it was linked to something no? I thought it just said 'educational achievement' but nearly everyone in my class said it was 'social class achievement'.
Ok, guys. So, I bombed this exam lol. I screwed up the first 2 marker and for the 6 marker I blanked out how could I forget about GIST? ugh. Anyway, I feel really comfident about next weeks family paper so if I did really well then and screwed up this paper- will I get a relatively decent grade?
