I wrote about the different family diversity (singletons, gays, lone parents), the different ethnicity and how they bring in lone parent families and extended families. Post modernism and how the fragmentation of culture and the rapid technology change has had a huge effect on the family diversity and how it compares to murdocks and parsons 2 theories.

Sounds good
I failed that question...wording completely threw me off tbh
I'm SO CONFUSEDDD, how did u guys answer the first 24 marker????:frown:

Did you refer it back to the Item and how it changes the functions of family ie. How that the family traditionally performed primary and secondary socialisation however now there are institutions readily available to perform this etc.

Nope, I didn't complete the last essay; I thought I could cruise half way through and I ran out of time haha. Didn't use the item either. Damn, free marks.

On the bright side, this paper accounts for less percentages in the overall grade!

Urm referred to how today's society has seen a progression towards equal division of labour, supported it with Wilmott and Young who claimed that 72% of men help around the house showing that... And the move to a symmetrical family with joint conjugal roles. Then I criticised with Ann Oakley who says that the wording of the the statement clearly indicates that division of labour within a couples relationship is not equal and housework still remains the primary responsibility of the woman. And added how that although women are able to work they suffer from dual burden etc. Then I said how that Greer says we should abolish the family or participate in political lesbianism or separatism so the we can be afforded equality. Then I mentioned Sommerville who said that my using revolutionary tactics radical feminists are failing to acknowledge the March of Progress which has helped them achieve financial autonomy from their partners and given them the freedom to kick their partner to the curb if they're inadequate. Then I criticised with the Radicals who said she fails to understand the patriarchal structure still exists and it still oppresses women, ie. the work hours are inflexible and tailored towards the traditional breadwinner. Mentioned Judith Stacey, Warde and Hethrington then mentioned Secularisations Impact which has meant that couples no long prescribe to the laws and traditions instead giving personal meaning to their relationships. The emergence of matrifocal families.

That's what annoyed me the paper was not a one hour paper, it required more time to make it detailed or else it would descriptive, I failed to write a conclusion for both 24's 😪

I only mentioned the New Right and Functionalist perspective, then Feminist and did half a paragraph on secularisation and postmodernism.

Wasn't the question worded with 'today' at the end though? Can you still use all the old theory?

Yeah, I looked at the clock and had 20 odd minutes left; just left the first 24 marker XD.

Yeah, or else the only arguments would be postmodernist, late modernist... Because Oakley is somewhat recent, I think supporting it with trends such as matrifocal or lone-parent helps keep it relevant... Wait, oh shoot 😂😭
I failed the exam like I said
What are the predictions for unit 2?

I thought that was just throw us off, I think referring to the question and bringing up modern examples helped because I said a new form of masculinity has emerged allowing me to show their feminism and secularisation

They did that last year with the childhood question and I checked the examiners report; all my Aries and medieval talk didn't count.
If you can bring up the old theories too; that would be so overpowered :O.
I didn't do that.
Did you get alot of sleep before the exam haha. I slept 6, trying to cram demography, that shot my memory alittle

Ahh, poo, hopefully they allow it, because the Divorce Act of 1969 is old and the Equality Act and so on and the Radical and Marxist Feminists both help criticise... I revised until 8PM yesterday then slept and woke up at 5, went for a jog came back and then went for the exam. I realised morning revision affects the recall of information I've revised before so I just took the risk. I did tell everyone that demography wouldn't come up as it is played out
Don't know if my other comment posted but wtf did everyone right about for the two 24 markers? Did people really emphasise about "today". Also did you specify how diversity undermines the traditional family (and did you include things like the Rapaports)?

Didn't include Rapoports but mentioned the traditional family functions, and then used the item, talked about the functionalist viewpoint on family diversity, then the New Right, then criticised with Feminism and postmodernism and brought up secularisations impact on diversity
For the 24 marker on conjugal roles - i spoke about the family in the pre- industrial society and how the roles have changed in industrail and contemporary society.. but now your all saying the word 'today' was supposed to throw us off - was i not supposed to refer back to the old theory? how many marks do i loseee shiuyttt

Do you think I ****ed it? I literally spoke about traditional roles like instrumental and expressive and how they've changed via the MOP approach. And then how relationships have greater equality in decision making unlike Edgells and Vogler, indicated by the increase in lone parent families and same sex couples. And then for the 2nd I used the NR to criticise saying it undermines traditional roles like the ones I mentioned above cos I used them again, and that this creates a dependency culture and spoke about Chester/Rapaports/Stacey/Hareven and stuff.
