social deprivation main cause for crime
violence in the media can cause violence in real life [hyprodermic vs decoding and uses and grats]
if media is the most powerful agency for political socialisation
press owners control the content of newspapers [conflict vs consensus approach]
if welfare state has been successful in reducing poverty
how successful governments been in reducing discrimination based on age class ethnicity

These are some 12 markers that you can do as practice for the exam I got these from a sociology revision book
any predictions for the 4 and 5 markers?
Hello,

Does anyone have any predictions for the UNIT 2 exam that will take place tomorrow?

If so, quote me on it please!

Thankyou
im really worried about the social mobility 5 marker because i talked about vocational education and how it gives disadvantaged kids a chance to get a career and move up the social ladder but no one else has talked about that!?!?

my teacher predicts that consensus vs. conflict (ownership of the media) will be one of the 12 markers

is that the same as the pluralist approach and conflict approach and how the media control the content of ideas?

If it is that, then how much would you know to know to cover 12 marks

Hey I got these questions wrong in the mock, I can't find the answers in the bookIt's in unit 2 from the 2013 paper

Question 1: Describe one way in which groups such as environmentalists might use digital media to promote their cause and explain how successful this might be.(5marker)

Question 2: Describe one way in which the police have tried to improve their relationship with minority ethnic groups and explain how successful this has been. (5marker)

Question 3: Identify two reasons why an event has news value (2marker)

Thanks

TELL ME HOW MANY MARKS PLEASE

Question 1: Describe one way in which groups such as environmentalists might use digital media to promote their cause and explain how successful this might be.(5marker)

Question 2: Describe one way in which the police have tried to improve their relationship with minority ethnic groups and explain how successful this has been. (5marker)

Question 3: Identify two reasons why an event has news value (2marker)

Thanks

1) one way in which they can use digital media to promote their cause could be social media such as: Instagram and twitter. This would be successful because many people would share and the information and it would circulate and spread awareness of the issue. This may not be successful because it may not be seen as interesting or it may be seen as too trivial to spread around.

2) One way is that they've hired community police officers that can break the idea that police officers are hard to approach. This may have not been successful because police officers have increased this means that theres more stop and search on minority ethnic groups, this may have lead to conflict instead of improving their relationship with minority ethnic groups. However, this may have been successful because minority ethnic groups may have been recruited in the police force, this means that they will be more approachable and attitudes towards the police will change.

3) An event may have news value (when something is shown and given attention and importance) because the story may be sensational and interesting and it may have to do with important people e.g celebrities
