My joints keep clicking

Is this strange? Anyone know why? I used to have clicky hips when i was younger but the doctor said to my parents that itd stop as i got older. It hasnt 😂 ill move my foot and my ankle will click, ill be leaning on a table and my shoulder will click (more like a really loud crunch!) Or my neck, knees, back, elbows will click not to mention my hands and toes 😂

Anyone know why this keeps happening? Or what i can do to make it stop?

This is very, very weird, but i have exactly the same thing XD
I also had clicky hips as a baby that the consultant said would go away, but didn't..
All my joints in my legs (hips, knees, ankles) click, and more worryingly I can dislocate my hips...it doesn't hurt, it's just annoying if i lean too far over on my hip because it pops out:P
My advice is go to the doctor, I did, and they gave me light exercises to do and referred me to a physiotherapist, my appointment should be in the next few weeks. If its not causing pain, they don't treat it urgently I'm afraid. I went on a 26 mile sponsored walk a few weeks back which made it way worse and now it actually gives me pain:/

I think it's called hip dysplasia or something? Hope this helps

Oh dear! I hate going to the doctors so unless it starts to hurt i probably wont go. I think i sometimes dislocate my hip too! If im walking or i stretch or sit wierdly it feels like it pops out 😦. I also find i get cramps all the time especially in my feet, legs, back and neck which are excruciatingly painful!! I might see if i can find some of the exercises online - it just doesn't feel right😂

Thanks for your help!

This sounds like classic hypermobility syndrome; I had it for almost a decade now. I get subluxations, dislocations, joint pain and I'm very, very flexible (always clicking). It also causes the cramps you mention. Google JHS, or EDS-Type III, they're the same condition. Not many doctors are aware of the condition, you need to see a physio. Good luck

Oh ok - ill google that 😊 thanks aha its been going for ages now. Its the fact that most of the clicks aren't painful so ive never thought of it as that bad 😂 thank you

Could be air in the joints but my clicking was due to cartillage wear

I have this thing where if I keep my arm bent for a little while (like I'm resting my head on my hand for example or something like that) my arm will feel like it kinda locked, and that I need to stretch it out to "unclick" it. So weird, and when I "unclick" it makes the loudest noise, so it's awkward in exams and what not :s-smilie:

Yeah! Aha i know exactly what you mean! My knees are especially bad. I was in an exam the other day and i stretched out my legs and they made the loudest click ever! So awkward! 😣
I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Type III) and click so much I'm like an orchestra. I subluxicate a lot of my joints on a daily basis, I'm very very bendy and have other issues (not just my joints!) because basically my collagen is too stretchy. Please go and talk to a doctor and see a physio, too! I'm not trying to scare you, but I'm having to have a lot of physio right now because I ignored the "loose-and-clicky"-ness in one of my shoulders, and it now pops out 10 times a day through the stupidest thing (sneezing, rolling over in bed). I'm also having to be looked at by a specialist knee physio in a couple of weeks: from where my kneecaps have been sliding around (and the doctors wouldn't listen to me about that or the popping) for so many years, they now think I might have cartilage damage. So please get checked!

Good luck!

No offence but I would not google that... I am a patient at GOSH for similar things and my GP referred me after he thought I had EDS, but they said that there is no point in diagnosing me with a rare genetic disorder because the diagnosis means absolutely nothing, it is the symptoms that matter! Also just being clicky and bendy doesn't really call for a genetic diagnosis unless it is paired with something like scoliosis or vascular problems.

Also if you have no pain, there is no point seeing a doctor as painless clicking is normal and they won't do anything.

If you start to get joint pain then go to the GP.

Hope this helps xox

is hypemoillity the same as double jointed? because ive had clicking joints ever since i did PE in year 7 but its gotten worse as now im in my 2nd yeae of college when ever i step of the bus, play on kinect sports. real life bowling, standing up from sitting alot i get this stiffness for 2 mis where i cant bear weight at all and then after 2 mins it clicks and back to normal. ive had hypotonia since i was born (which is ehere muscles can never fully relax) so with me is this because im double jointe d and hypotoia or something completley different as im only 17
You need glucosamine

Hypermobility is being double-jointed, Hypermobility SYNDROME/Ehlers-Danlos, Hypermobile Type is when you have multiple problems (pain, popping, (partial) dislocations, heart and gut problems, etc.) where there is bendiness present. You can be hypermobile and perfectly healthy, and there is more to the syndrome than being bendy. You may have the syndrome- have you seen the doctor?
Go to the physical therapist and he will help to solve your problem.
