New right might come up as an aspect of marketisation as marketisation is the adoption of free market principles within education and creates competition between schools in order to drive up standards. And the free market is favoured by new right....... what does any one els think about that......?

I do Good then bad for each one and try to make it about a page maybe page 1/2 long
(I do bad to anaylsis it so ... Positivsts like this blah blah blah... However interpretivists may not favour official statistics as they cannot seek the meaning behind actions, social actors have agency) but I keep it fairly brief

sometimes theyve asked things like Examine the view that theoretical issues are the most important factor influencingsociologists’ choice of research methods.

I would probably split that interpretivist/positive advantage and disadvantages

Mmmm keep hearing/seeing Marxism. I guess I would include
Bowles and Gintis, Myth of meritocracy- meritocracy is base on equal opportunity and individual achievement and B&G claim not all people have equal opportunity to achieve therefor meritocracy is a myth
correspondence principle transmitted through hidden curriculum
Althusser, Ideological state apparatus legitimising and reproducing inequality
Education socialises children into ruling class ideology and education along with religion and media is an important part of the ISA.
phrases like passive and obedient work force an alienation are always good for Marxism.
Evaluate with Willis I suppose and maybe functionalism.......
Any other suggestions.....

My predictions from looking at past papers is gender may come up as it hasn't come up since 2013 where it was a 20 marker, New right hasn't come up thus i have a feeling it may come up this year although i have a doubt as functions came up in 2014 also social policies hasn't come up as short marker in a long time therefore i wouldn't leave that topic out as it might come up as 12 markers even though it was a 20 marker last year.. hard to fully predict as its the last spec!:frown:

I think there is a good chance it will it hasnt come up it a long time (2012? or before then)

tricky to say as it hasn't been seen as a 20 marker but came up in 2014 as 12 marker so id advise to learn it in depth

any replies from your teacher about what might come up in unit 2? i feel so nervous about what might come up for the last methods in contexts question. hopefully not official sTATistics as that came up last year thankfully

Families and households was the bane of my existence, I missed out a 24 marker because I didn't understand the question/ran out of time.

I don't know if they WILL be extra harsh with the paper, but I hear a lot of people in my college saying "Oh it's the last year of this spec, they're probably gonna make the questions harder"



They didn't for families and households, so we needn't assume that the edu will be really hard

Guys how do u structure the 20 markers in unit 2? Alll of the three 20 markers, I'm so confused!!!! :frown: (old spec!)
Any advice on structuring 12 markers? I honestly can't remember
Can anyone else ask their sociology tutors tomrrow if New Right can come up as an essay question previously I did not think it could!! thanks

I predict ethnicity, clss external/internal or MARXISM will come up. Ethnicity+ class being at the same level of highly likely and marxism maybe with gender very unlikely.. (FOR 20 MARKERS FOR EDUCATION). Learn these 3 topics thoroughly and EVERYONE will do good on the 20 marker for education.

Im scaredddddd for methods in context.. ANYONE ELSE? Anyway for research methods i think experiments, observations, questionnaires, documents or interviews might come up.... Choice of research method might come up but they've done it every 2 years past 4 years so not really likely tbh,....

new right will not come up as a 20 marker. It will not i repeat. I have been over every single past exam paper this does not exist its too short. New right is associated to social policy and that came up last year :smile:
