Urgh Jeff it's honestly so difficult. I'm trying really hard to remember the circuit rules but I always get at least ONE thing mixed up. I'm gonna try and make loads of diagrams/tables and write them out again and again and again till I get it right. There has to be a point where I can just read them out like the back of my hand. If not, well I'm ****ing screwed lmao

That's a good idea actually! I finished really early for the prelim so I reckon I could quickly draw a table with differences on the rules and stuff so I can remember them. I'll consider doing that. :':wink:

Seriously do it. It will help you. You won't be panicking throughout the exam trying to remember them. Just quickly draw it out at the start. You could get it done in 60 seconds.

The way I learn it is

Series Parallel
Vt= v1+v2 Vt=v1=v2
It=I1=I2 It=I1+I2
Rt=R1+R2 1/RT = 1/R1 + 1/R2

Because I learn it from left to right like this: Since it is + for the series, it will be = for the parallel (voltage). Since that last one was equal, so will the next be = too (this time current). Since their different in series and parallel the next one will be +. And the last two you are given I'm sure.

Try it like that?

In an electrical circuit... does the current move from the positive to the negative or the other way round in a battery ? Don't LEDs need to be a certain way around to work ?

Light Emitting Diodes are able to transform electrical energy directly to light energy - Write this if you are ever asked the definition of an LED

Remember how to draw it. DO not draw it the wrong way round!!

Remember a DIODE allows the current in the circuit to flow in ONE direction. This applies to a light emitting diode as well. The tip of the triangle must point towards the negative terminal of the power supply or the LED wont work at all.

I drew the arrows really long and big so you can understand that it should point towards the negative terminal always. Obviously don't draw them that big in the exam if you get asked lmao

( I'm so bad at drawing circuits. You can clearly see my failed attempts.....)

Omg, thank you so much. I'm going to try this method tomorrow. This will definitely work. THANK YOU ! That's such a clever analogy!

Okay Thanks, Arrows facing the negative terminal !! Thanks so much <3 :smile:

And the charge carriers in the circuit are electrons so they will be negative. Opposites attract so negative will flow towards positive. Forgot to mention that. X

No probs.

Anything else, gimme a shout. I'm not the brightest so I have 'abnormal' ways of memorising things which I find useful from time to time.

Anything else and I can help.

Make sure you look at the sqa course notes and do the model papers if you bought them? Or if not do at least all the papers on sqa's website!

Shutup!!! You're always underestimating yourself. I do not like it when you do that. Stay positive. Abnormal or normal, you're still learning in a way that you find best suits you. I really liked your "abnormal" analogy anyways :biggrin:

Really, this guy is best for circuits. I know he goes a bit deeper, but it still helps.

Ill have a look at some nat 5 papers, did them 2 years ago I can't remember :P

Then ill see if any relevant videos exist

Here is a compiled playlist that are hopefully useful for you guys. Most of the "Intro" videos are quite good and cover basically everything in Nat 5, ignore most of the other videos unless you think its relevant.

Awww :smile:

It's just because I cannot see myself getting anything less than 5A's. That was my aim at the beginning of 3rd year and I always mess up experimental procedure questions because, honeslty, I'm not smart. Not wanting sympathy but that's me being honest. I only do well in questions that require FULL memorisation. That's why I suck at experiments in Biology and since quite a bit of that came up, I am ****** myself.

Regarding your revision, what's your target grade for nat 5 physics? I think it should be an A band 1, let alone A!!!

Hey Jeff, see higher physics do you get that stuff like electric field lines and magnetic field lines, finding it hard to understand that stuff.

Shutup omg SAME. See if the biology paper has just knowledge? I would definitely get an A****** lmao. I work from memory too which is why the english paper went so well for me... Some of the questions were weird on the biology paper as well :/ i just need physics to go well for me now too :frown:

I'm not smart either. I'm really stupid. So stupid I make myself cry sometimes. Lol.

I have become quite good friends with you over tsr and i can genuinely say you're one of the smartest people i've met. you should stop being so hard on yourself, breaks my heart to see such a talented person underestimate themselves. :smile:

:lovehug:

My target grade for physics is just a standard B :smile: I don't think i'll get anything higher than that. Hell, if I pass this with a C i'll be lucky. Lmao

Yeah I'm kinda the same I'm really good at remembering knowledge of subjects but the problem solving in exams can be hard at times. That's why I got a B in physics last year I think, but I'm much better this year as higher physics definitely improves your problem solving and your over all mental acuity. And I'm sure you're not stupid :smile: .
Good luck in your exam on Tuesday.

I've actually done that soooo many times and felt that soooo much before!!!!

Trust me, I think you will get the A. Nat 5 is marked generously and you will realise that on results day. They are lenient to give you marks. At higher, they basically want you to be a bin cleaner and fail :colonhash:

Awwww :smile:

Anyways, I need to focus now only 2 days left and keep getting distracted. Probs won't talk to you until after exam. Make sure you let me know how it goes!

I love questions regarding electric fields and plates with calculations like W=QV.

All the theory sucks da big one. I don't understand magnets at all. I don't understand electric field lines at all. I think I know the hand rules but when I actually do it in a past paper, I always get it wrong.

I pray that there is no theory on that **** on Tuesday!!!!

Hopefully the knowledge and explain of that section doesn't come up. The calculations are good though.
