Lenses question physics

Just doing some papers ahead of my resit for Physics G491 and I came across this question and I don't really understand it, can anyone help?

The lens of a fixed focus digital camera in a mobile phone is placed 8.0mm in front of the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) used to record the image of distant objects. Explain why the lens to image distance is approximately equal to the focal length f of the lens.

Did this today, something like the 1/u distance is negligible so equation becomes 1/f = 1/v
