who is aunt clara in of mice and men & can anyone explain to me a bit about slim.

Aunt Clara is the woman who raised Lennie when he was a child. She's not really featured in the novel as such, but George and Lennie talk about her and Lennie has visions of her before he's killed in Chapter 6.

Slim is the 'prince of the ranch' - a 'jerkline skinner' who works with the other men to buck barley in the fields. All the other men on the ranch seem to aspire to be like him, as he is powerful, just and a symbol of masculinity. Slim is also the only character on the ranch that seems to understand the friendship between George and Lennie, and Steinbeck presents him as a deeply perspicacious and knowledgable figure.

Aunt Clara

She is a maternal figure who brought up Lennie. She was first mentioned in section 1 when Lennie and George were talking about the mice he kept on killing. But she appears again later on in section 6 in pennies hallucinations.

She was attacking Lennie through his voice, using phrases George has originally said to him "son of a bitching well..." Which empathises that Lennie feels guilty for all the things he has put George through. Aunt Clara is only significant for pointing out the 'flaws' is Lennie.

Slim

The "jerk line skinner" and the "king of the ranch". Through biblical imagery he is often referred to as a "God" like figure who has ultimate respect "(he) don't need to wear no high heeled boots" and even Curley who has power and authority because he is the bosses son, still respects slim even though in ahierarchy he is 'lower' than him.
