Some have sex and only get paid based on percentage of sales of their videos. They don't get paid for the act itself.
That is different. They enter into an industry where they are being paid to have sex and it be filmed. That's entirely different from you just having sex, it being filmed, and then deciding to sell it.
There is just one porn industry in the whole world?
By definition.
But. What you're asking is 'All the porn is done inside LA'? And the answer is no. But it's not done strictly legally elsewhere. Authorities just don't care at this point. Porn breaks law all the time:

In some countries outright prostitution is legal, but porn is still not? I find that hard to believe.
From that article: Porn is only explicitly legal in California and New Hampshire. Otherwise it's prostitution [In the US].
Elsewhere in the world? Well, now this is like me saying 'The Entertainment industry is in LA'. Which it is. Hollywood, is based in LA. It's done elsewhere but it's an LA industry. The majority of porn comes from the states just like the majority of movies. Most of it is done outside is done illegally and is prostitution.

I do not see how that is relevant to the question of whether porn actors are whores or not.
The original debate is about pornstars are whores and my contention is yes they are outside of California. This is clearly correct at least in the US and elsewhere in the world.
Not everywhere outside of california though... I don't pretend to know every jurisdictional law on prostitution worldwide. Do you?
What we can say, at least, is that if it were anywhere but LA, in most instances, they'd be prostitutes.

But why does the legality of the thing make them not whores, or whores, respectively?
As I said, in some places prostitution is legal, does that make prostitutes operating in those places not whore? Because it's legal?

Oh. Well a whore is a prostitute and whether prostitution is legal doesn't matter.
Prostitution and porn acting are the same thing in most places except California. In places that prostitution is legal, they don't have ''pornography' generally as a thing. They're just prostitutes who are being recorded. Thus, I think the 'porn actor' oddity of some places (California) is just abstracting away that they are whoring away their bodies.
