My Road to A* everywhere

Anyone do AQA for literature ? I found that I did quite well and managed to finish everything. Again, people found it different from what we did in revision and found it hard. Many people didn't even finish. Even some of the people with high capabilities didn't. We'll just have to wait and see.

How did you find it ? Which essay did you write about ?
I wrote about Lennie also about the poetry what did you mention ?
So many people are saying it's about a prostitute but i said it was about a fish monger.
Found it good overall

School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

(WJEC) English Language: A*
(WJEC) English Literature: A*
(Edexcel) Maths: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
(AQA) German: A*
(OCR Modern) History: A*
(AQA) Geography: A*
(OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of one eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

Lol I was gonna come and troll this post. But then I read through it. Well done youve made me behave XD

Of mice and men was very strange, we are taught to integrate the two sections and I have never done anything else but part a and b were very difficult to link consistently point by point. I also felt that only writing about one or two characters was an unnecessary restriction of the question that served no purpose, I've never seen anything like that before. Strange that they would chose to change it up in the final exam of the texts.

I've just been catching up on all the posts everywhere about the poems and now I'm panicking!! I only wrote about the obvious and never even mentioned that - but we will have to wait and see - I did the essay on friendship

That's exactly what I've been told from everyone else. It's nothing like any of the past papers. Hopefully, that means the grade boundaries will be much lower. It seems that all the examining boards want to screw us over because we're the last year of GCSEs 😂😂😂😂

I know! I guess AQA are having a bad year as well judging by the response to their biology paper last week, I really hope they don't pull any surprises with poetry because I'm going to have to nail that one now...

I got an A* in my poetry mock without any revision so I'm hoping that with revision I'll get an...A*. Lol.

Same, got an A* without the 8 SPAG marks in unit 1 as my teacher forgot them😂It just concerns me how out of the ordinary it was- like what will happen to those who wrote about more than 2 characters? Poetry is a strength of mine though so hopefully I'll still get an A* in the end. It's all a bit stupid, and it's only 25% coursework!

Hey don't say that! What matters is that you have at least revised! Physics is also my weakest subject and what I do to improve is doing loads of past papers. You would be surprised how similar the questions that come up are and the answers to them.
Update 23/05/2016
Today has not been the best of days. Especially after finding out about the real meaning of the poetry today, and they real ones are ludicrous! Good thing I only have two exams left in this month. One on Thursday and Friday.

- Maths past paper A*
- revised maths, watched lots of videos
- revised the character of Catherine and her relationship with Eddie.
- watched videos on a view from the bridge.

I started feeling ill after an hour past the exam. I didn't feel nervous or anything before or whilst the exam. I feel a bit better though.

Today I have:
-sat my English lit exam
-revised geography (the restless earth and water on the land) ahead of tomorrow's exam. Still got to revise the entire of the coastal zone in the morning (including case studies)

Hopefully I'll manage to get it done - I'll find a way
