Special Consideration in exams

Hi everybody!! If you get special consideration, what EXACTLY does it mean please?

If you look at the top threads in the A level forum there are some that are stuck there permanently at the top of the page so people can see them. One of them is on special consideration.

It can range from an extra 1% (headaches, fire alarm or other disturbances) up to a rare maximum of 5% (immediate family member dying the night before an exam)
