For the last one did you rearrange 0.5/2rootn = 1.9/2 ?

Something like that. I used 1.6449

Those all ring a bell Mean was like 26.45 right?
they asked for 3sf i think
And 1.95 is for the z value i think, something like (2)/root(12.2/35+10.1/42) something

For question 2, did people get 4.604 is less than 4.605 for the conclusion?

Can't remember figures but definitely rejected the null hypothesis, ie there was an association

Oh yeah, it was 1.95

Using the width formula I think I did something like 2x1.6449.2/rootn<2x0.5

So 2x1.6449/0.5<root n

So Root n>6.5797
n>43.2911...
therefore n=44
Can anyone remember all the hypothesis tests? I think I got

influenza: association
Mean was greater
Can't remember the binomial and poisson!

I got that too For Binomial I think B(4,0.3) is suitable
For Poisson i think it wasn't suitable if i remember correctly

My binomial was suitable, but my Poisson wasn't.

Binomial is suitable and poisson is not suitable

2, 5.61
3 rs= 0.75
4, a) .7784 b).0107
5 1.95
Unbias mean 26.5, variance 12.7
The mean of the poisson is something like 1.8 and chi square for binomial is something 14.xx ?
Last question n=44
As long as i remember this is what i did

Yeh got most of them.

Right.

I did P(z< 0.5/2rootn) >= 0.95

lool instead of 1.6449 for z, I put 0.95 for z, and somehow decided to put the corresponding probability 0.8289 for z , which I equated to 0.5/2rootn

Not sure what I was smoking...

Could you give the contexts of the binomial and poisson plz? As in what the question was about
got question 1 wrong :/

In all honesty I wasnt sure if what I was doing is right! I just thought back to Rostas coffee beans question which was a really similar Q a few years ago.

Binomial something about no of suicases from 0 to 4 B(4,0.3)
Poisson was something abiut passengers in 100 5 minute intervals

Chi square for the doctor question ?
Original post by JacobTan
why 44? i got 27. anyone remember what the question was?

I believe near the end you should have got

[br]2ϕ(0.52n)1=0.9[br]ϕ(0.52n)=0.95[br]0.52n=1.6449[br]n43.29[br][br]2 \phi (\frac{0.5}{\frac{2}{\sqrt{n}}}) -1 = 0.9[br]\therefore \phi(\frac{0.5}{\frac{2}{\sqrt{n}}}) = 0.95[br]\therefore \frac{0.5}{\frac{2}{\sqrt{n}}} = 1.6449[br]\therefore n \approx 43.29[br]
min n is 44

does anyone else agree?
