To remember A02 points acrostics are good :-)
The A02 includes the supporting studies doesn't it? I get confused with last year pretty easily and I think of A02 as being pure evaluation, but that's more A03 this year. :smile:

Thats not necessarily true because AO3 is any further criticisms of an AO2 study which you have included so its not always an IDA. For example, you may criticise a study for lacking validity or for its design such as using self report techniques and then quickly add a summary of another study that may be more accurate. Some people see AO3 as an IDA and I can see why.

However, I would see IDA as an entire separate paragraph which needs to be detailed and elaborated on completely and is not really criticising a specific study only but also the theory that is being used (e.g. evolutionary, biological, etc.)

IDA could be things like
-gender bias
-nature vs. nurture
-correlation vs. causation
-reductionist
-deterministic

I'm doing the same, I've made spreadsheets of each essay. So I've broken down chunks of essays into smaller parts and added associative images. I've found it helpful as you learn bits at a time instead of being overwhelmed by a whole essay or 25 essays in this case. The pictures also help because I'm a visual learner and helps me imagine the pages when I'm writing the essays blind (no notes).

Our school has advised us not to criticise studies etc, that's why I use AO3 as only IDA

my teacher is an examiner and she's always told us its so important to criticise studies but you must also include general IDA points but AO2 is mainly evaluation of research linking back to the theory

I'm sticking to what I've personally been told, which is not to waste time on evaluation of individual studies as it doesn't gain credit easily as its not directly linked to evaluating the theory

My teacher says this too, but she said that methodological criticisms rarely gain marks as they're quite basic compared to IDA points

Yeah, exactly what mine say regarding methodological evaluation. Mine just advise us to use IDA as its easily linked to the theory itself and can be elaborated on well to gain marks, and I trust them as they're current examiners, my mock was an A* so I'm happy with my essay style
