swear it was copper D:

Yeah! It was a copper carbonate, phew, someone just said calcium and I got so worried
Original post by 97Y
Yeah, but I have a feeling that I wrote Cu by accident.. But I got those numbers

i think i may have wrote cu also
Original post by Ultracrepidarian
was it not a square planar

I got 4 bonding pairs one lone pair and trigonal bipyrimidal
Original post by sr111
I got chlorine

It had to be an element in group 6 and in period 3 so must be sulfur
Empirical formula Cu2(oh)2(CO3)2 and sf4 is 89 and sf6 is 90
I got yield 49.3.

it was copper dont worry
Original post by Ultracrepidarian
how did you get that what did you divide 1.09 by

i got the theoretical yield of the product to be formed i.e found the mass then divided 1.09 by that mass and multiplied by 100

107 is for 3 bonding pairs and 1 lone pair

Yes I know but remember this was a tetrahedral which has a angle of 109.5 and a lone pair which reduces it by 2-2.50 and that's how I came to 107.5. I'm not saying I'm correct, that's just what I thought so I could be wrong.

My bad it is copper

was it not a square planar

It was a seesaw shape, 2 Bonds 180 apart, 2 90 apart with a lone pair on top.

what did you guys get for the similarity and difference between the two spectra??
Original post by Ultracrepidarian
how did you get that yield

Moles of actual acid / moles of theretical x 100

i got my angles mixed up but i drew that so ill lose the angle mark
What was question 6 again?

Similarity is total abundance

Difference is small peaks due to higher energy gun causing double charged ions

nevermind crap i see where i went wrong i worked out atom economy instead of yield.

also for the mass question what did you get

was it not a square planar

I don't think so because a square planar has 1 lone pair and a single electron so the single electron goes at the top and pair of electrons at the bottoms which pushes the 4 bonds between them, 2 on each side. I was thinking about that but I didnt remember the angle for it so I went for the 107.5

I put chlorine too.

Buuuut I just googled the ionisation energies and sulfurs is 1000 which was the FIE so it must be sulfur.

Sulphur, as it was 6 electrons till the next shell - you could see the jump
