Transferring from russell group uni to non russell group

anted to leave this uni because I really don't enjoy it. The only uni I have properly considered is a non russell group one which will let me transfer directly to the second year of study doing the same course.

I want to get into teaching... Am i making a bad choice?

Thanks. I go warwick as it stands but was thinking of going BCU. I think I can get a 1st in BCU if i really put my head down whereas at Warwick I'm really scared of getting a 2:2 especially going on the inconsistent grades i am getting now whilst actually putting in effort.

Would employers really question the move is what im worried about?😩

Employers don't question that stuff. You'll be spending most of your degree years at BCU so you can say that's where you got your degree from. No need to mention Warwick at all

Oh so you think its a no no to mention it? Friends and family have advised me to mention that I went there because its an achievement to have gotten in as their admissions are rigorous, but just to sell myself positively in that I passed the year but left due to personal commitments?

Obviously I will try my best to pass this year at Warwick with the best grade possible as my exams are running currently...

If you don't enjoy Warwick, then maybe look more into other unis that will let you transfer or maybe do the first year again somewhere else? It would allow you to pick the best possible uni rather than merely going for the only one you have considered so far. For secondary school teaching, schools are increasingly looking at candidates by their university, but if it's primary school teaching, it might not matter so much.

I understand, not from a university point of view, but I changed sixth form. This was also because the idea had gotten out of control- I was simply unable to see any possibility other than leaving the sixth form, but looking back, I regret it. You may think that you have a better chance of getting a First at BCU, but what's to say you will? And what's to say you won't, just because you're at Warwick? However, if there are other factors, then definitely consider moving university, but you could always find accommodation- you don't have to commute from home. It's definitely worth finding a good uni though, by thoroughly investigating this, or at least doing the first year elsewhere. University is not all that employers care about, but that's not to say that it won't matter at all, there's a reason that choosing a uni can often be an agonising decision!

Also, I'm sure some employers will ask why your first year was not completed at BCU if you move there- this is definitely not something you will be able to miss out. However, it won't matter to them as long as your reason for moving is valid

That's a pretty severe drop in reputation... Why not aim for like Oxford Brookes, Notts Trent, Kent, even frickin Coventry??

I think for English and Media BCU Is higher than Oxford Brookes and Trent, not so sure about Kent... Also Cov don't do my course😩. The reason I'm not considering further afield is because personal circumstances mean that I need to be closer to home...

Definitely! My family have raised that same point to me... But even overlooking the academic side of things, Warwick is socially dead (sorry if you're from Warwick and reading this). Just from personal experience I revel better in outgoing environments where there's just better communication, I mean I'm not the only one that feels this way about this uni...

Also if I don't do better in BCU then I think i cant complain lol I made my bed I just have to work to the best of my ability.

My main concern is just the emphasis put on RG uni's. Like I worked so hard to get here because the level of prestige and glamour surrounding these types of uni's meant that "i made it in life" (or so how it was put to me). But staying here just demotivates my studies and I'm just thinking about the stigma attached to moving to a 'lesser' uni overall.
