Cousin just finished his grind through the american med training system: 4 years unergrad, 4 years med, 5 years surgery residency, 2 years neurosurgery fellowship. His offer as an attending neurosurgeon is slightly under $300k a year.. Pretty lucky as he got med school paid for by a scholarship and stipend, his wife is also going to be an attending doc in a couple years too - their household income is going to be insanity.

Only thing is, it's pretty difficult to transition from here to the states without undergoing more training. Training in specialist areas is also not as open to foreign med grads.

If I could have any job in the world, I'd be a camera(wo)man for a David Attenborough show (or similar).

In reality, I'm studying medicine to become a doctor.
Legal officer for the United Nations or Lawyer at the Hague.

Ultimately I would want to be a judge, but that will require decades of experience.

Lol that's all good but I said I'll want to only go to the States if I choose medical research or if I wanted to become a scientist (preferably physics).

If I choose surgery, the UK is enough for me. The pay for neurosurgeon here goes 6 figs. :smile:

Wall observer is more philosophical and has better career prospects .
When you see a wall observer you wonder what does this guy think when he is watching the wall , he must be so wise .
Also god will burn bed testers in hell one day because they have commited ....... SLOTH ! ! !
My dream jobs would be to do any of my personal hobbies and interests daily and get paid for it lol

But yh, they are: chef / ancient greek historian / cricket commentator

Ahh, fair! So how come physics research isn't your dream job?

True, especially if you dabble in private practice.

Extra training is pretty long, you don't become a 'fully fledged' doc until after several years of specialist training in the UK.
