Strange. Not sure I want to accept an O level role (if I'm offered one) if there's a chance I could be offered a HO role, especially as I have a masters degree which is well above the requirements for the HO role. Strange of them to only offer O roles when they have a pool of candidates who are more than qualified for the HO positions they also have available.

If you have had an email offering an O role that means you were on the reserve list for O grade and so will not be offered HO, what I would suggest is to accept an O role if you get offered one but also apply directly for the HO role.

I am in the same position. Masters degree and offered an O position. I guess we could accept the position and then try TSP again next year as an internal candidate?

I'm in a similar position as I'm already an O band Tax Specialist in HMRC, so I have no interest in an O band position.
In the email for officer role it said they would update us later this month. Since Monday is bank holiday does this mean they must update everyone on Tuesday?

Wouldn't on count it, they may do but HMRC aren't great at sticking to given time frames.

Does anyone know whether all 200 places for TSP have been filled by those who have accepted offers? The longer it gets it seems the reserve is may just be for holding people in case someone drops out later on or for the filling of other O/HO jobs.

I was in exactly the same position as you this time last year (unsuccessful with TSP, offered O band despite having a masters degree etc.).

I would take it and get your foot in the door, and then apply for the TSP again next year (which is what I did, successful this time round).
Anyone received an update in regards to Officer roles, as today is deadline by which they were supposed to update us??

That's the plan at the moment, and congrats on making it this time round.
I doubt that there will be anything today. :frown:
do you think it is likely i would be offered an officer role in birmingham?
Has anyone got a contact number for them in regards to the officer roles?
I emailed them using the tsp email but have not yet had a reply.

After emailing them asking why they have not updated us about officer roles, i got this response:

'Thanks for your e-mail, as yet we do not have any updates'

Thats HMRC for ya...lol
I've sent them two emails in the last couple of weeks and haven't had a single reply. :frown:
If we are offered and accept Officer roles, when will we be expected to take up the position?

Last year my friend started middle July, but apparently this it starts in September, well if they will ever get back to us
I emailed back about O Grade positions in Edinburgh or Glasgow. I do hope we hear soon, not least so I can stop jumping every time I hear an email come through!

Yeah, this waiting is getting a little bit too long...

Did your friend get offered the role after being unsuccessful with TSP? I hope it starts in September! I can't start until mid-August and I'd hate to lose out on a job because of it...
