Controversial hate preacher attacked by students

Apollo High School has students in grades 9-12, this means the ages range from 14-18. Therefore the students COULD not be minors

What are you talking about? A minor for sexual purposes is someone under 18 in Arizona.

but even if they were, I don't think he broke this law. There was no physical contact and his speech was directed at the students to become Christian

Physical contact is not required for lewd and lascivious conduct charges in America. Lewd and lascivious conduct can encompass something like walking up to a 14 year old girl and whispering in her ear "I want to rape you". He hasn't touched her, but it would clearly fall under the lewd and lascivious offence.

not to make them horny

It doesn't have to make them "horny", it could involve arousing the libido of the aggressor. Also, such charges are state charges so that website cannot be considered a valid source for Arizona law.

He even said that they need to stop watching pornography

Was that before or after he said they deserve to be raped. By the way, the wink in my comment came up because I quoted his words about rape within commas, i.e. I had a " sign next to a ) sign. I didn't intend to create a wink

But I do find it interesting and revealing that you seem to think saying underage girls deserve to be raped is a funny situation

Anyone who committed a crime should be prosecuted.

In most US states "lewd and lascivious conduct" toward a minor is a criminal offence. He used violent and sexually suggestive language (stating they "Deserved to be raped" ) to underage girls. It seems to fit the bill to me.

Free speech doesn't allow you to go up to underage children and starting engaging them in sexually charged interactions and comments

He didn't go up to them though did he, they walked to him. No matter how hateful that Christian is, I can't believe you think it's ok to hit someone over the head because they offended you. Yes hitting someone over the head with a baseball bat is "attempted murder"

Actually, he positioned himself in a place adjacent to where they will be and proceeded to communicate these sentiments to them in a way designed to draw them to him, which led to them coming up to him (as he clearly desired). He went to the school, they didn't come up to him on a random street where he was "preaching"

I don't think that. I didn't say anywhere that I think the violence is justified; I said precisely the opposite. You seem to be getting upset that I'm pointing out this creep is hanging around outside a school using violent, sexually suggestive language to children. Why are Christians and righties becoming so obsessed with painting this man as an unmitigated victim and ignoring his sexually-charged interactions with underage girls?

Actually no, it's not. It can be; doesn't mean it is.Attempted murder requires that you intend to kill the victim, not that you performed an act that is capable of causing their death. Reckless as to the possibility is not sufficient.

(this is shown in the first minute of the video), not to make them horny. (http://www.criminal-law-lawyer-source.com/terms/lewd.html

I would add that the Glendale DA would have a strong basis to bring obscenity charges against him.

Lol calm down I'm not looking for an argument. I really cannot be bothered to watch the whole video so if he did have sexually-charged interactions with young girls, I completely condemn it. However he didn't follow them, they did come up to him and they could have walked away. I'm not a Christian, nowhere did I paint him out as a victim. I simply don't like people who support physical assault and battery because you don't like the words they are saying, its barbaric.

And how do you know she didn't intend to not kill him.

So, do you support violence against those you disagree with?

It got him to leave didn't it?

Last I checked, college students weren't minors.

Once again a ludicrous comment from you. How could you have missed that this was at a high school...

That girl is my hero

A YouTube attention seeker who calls himself "Brother" Dean Saxton decided to turn up outside a school in America and preaching anti-gay slogans while holding up a sign saying "You deserve to be raped" (I think that one was supposed to be directed at the heterosexual girls, though, for some imagined infraction). Video below, the assault is at 17:10 but watch at least few minutes before to get some context

Many of the students tried to argue reasonably with him. A slightly older man came and warned him that what he was doing was highly inappropriate (a fully grown man creeping around outside a school harassing students) and he should probably leave. Then a female student hits him in the head with a baseball bat and he runs away with his tail between his legs, whining and crying. Now that girl has been charged with "felony assault" for which she could serve three years in prison.

Let me say first that this man wouldn't be able to do what he does in America (hang around outside schools harassing students) in England; he would be arrested and charged for public order offences, and there are obvious child protection issues. Second, I find it impossible to feel sorry for this man; he's an attention-seeker and a provocateur, and he provoked a reaction. Maybe not the one he wanted, but if you play stupid games then you win stupid prizes. "Brother Dean" has subsequently called the assailant an "LGBT monster"

Two funny comments from the video. "Why'd you run? You forgot to turn the other cheek" and "lol preacher scrub got rekt 420 hail satan"

Not gonna lie, he DESERVED that!

What laws did he break? Free speech is allowed. Harassment maybe? I'm certain that the students made threats at the man, maybe they should go to jail.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hate_speech

How so many young people have absolutely no idea that free speech doesn't mean they can say whatever they want.

forbidden because it incites violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected individual or group, or because it disparages or intimidates a protected individual or group. The law may identify a protected group by certain characteristics.

He is clearly inciting violence (deserving to be raped, going to hell) and I think it is fairly sage to assume that school children will be a"protected group".

Jesus Christ you are an idiot.

Am I though?

Or should you look up some basic law?

I think it's the latter

Yes you are.

Like I said earlier you or I don't know if she did intend to murder him.

You obviously don't know the law either. Many people have been convicted of attempting murder for hitting someone over the head with a bat.
I don't understand why they can't just ignore him and call the police. All they've done now is convinced him that he's right and shown that this kind of attention seeking behaviour will give him a lot of exposure.

No. So you just admitted you were talking gibberish when you said it's attempted murder.

Glad that is cleared up.
