I'd like to become a movie director

In a short and most likely going to make me sound full of myself way, I really want to express ideas and concepts I have while also showing people my visions. So I have no experience in anything to do with media, I'm currently doing a Btec Level 3 course in business IT, and this idea of pursuing that interest has been on my mind for ages. I was very motivated to apply to the army, I still am, because I wanted to go out there and save lives basically, but now I feel like I've been holding back just because I wanted to go help people.

There are a lot of courses in film production that you could get onto without having academic/school based study of media.

If it's something you're considering and want to test the water then spending 3 weeks or so over the summer holidays on a summer school course would be a good idea - you'll get a better idea if it's for you, get some experience on what is involved and end up with some film reels and story boards etc for applying. These courses aren't cheap though (£2k ish for 3 weeks (including room and board) http://aub.ac.uk/courses/summer-courses/film-making-summer/ or http://www.arts.ac.uk/lcc/courses/short-courses/browse-short-courses/film-tv-and-sound/summer-school-filmmaking-course/ or http://byfa.co.uk/summer-camp/)
