A Level A2 Media Studies OCR 8th June 2016

I was just wondering if anyone has any predictions for Q1a and Q1b, or in regards to the predictions for the'Collective Identity' part of the paper? I'm really struggling with revision, help!

I think creativity will be 1A and 1B will be audience.
how should i revise for the exam?
Section A (just revise theories)
Section B (just remember examples and theories)
Is that a good way? I mean what else can you do for Section A since you havent seen the item and how should I revise for the examples you have to give in question 2 and 3 (shall i just keep on track with media issues?)

I made queue cards with all the theorists for 1A and B on with their names on the front and theories on the back (inc. which questions I can use them for).

I would recommend writing out the essay because we know what they'll be (there may be slight change in language but you basically write the same thing every time).

I would revise the theories and theorists in conjunction with your own work so in your notes write down the theory, theorists and how you would link it to your product. i.e...

Roland Barthes- Semic Code - broken mirror in music video connoting loss of identity

Jean Baudrillard - the author is dead - intertextual references to the shinning

ect.

Good luck:P

Cue cards will be good!
I basically made google docs for Section A (Theorists only) then Section B with theory about case study and examples from Broadcast,E media and print
and whats ur structure for section B?
I do intro (history etc with point)
2 points for and 2 against
then conclusion

1A was conventions of real media texts
1B was narrative
Is there much chance of them repeating the same question as last year in Question 1a or b??
how is everyones revison going?
I know most theories, but i do keep forgetting key ones
Is everyone just revising theories then? (Section A and B)

and how can we revise for the wider issues and debates

nope... none of those will apply for section B case study

Did your teacher not tell you about section A theorists? You must have known about then in year 12

Section 1A = no theorists
Section 1B = theorists (Barthes, Hall, Propp, etc)

Section 2 = theorists (Baudrillard, Jameson, etc)

AQA is Section A - Theorists and analysis of unseen piece
Section B - Case study on identity with identity theorists
