Natural order? This is incorrect. There is nothing natural about gender roles. They are merely social adaptations, used to increase the survival chances of the human race. It is beneficial however in a uncivilised society and also civilised society.

Engels claimed that the Modern nuclear family came about with capitalism. Men needed someone to wean their child/ successor into adequate social actors to claim/ take over their property and therefore they entered a partnership with women (marriage) so that the women would stay at home and raise the child, whilst the men worked.

Gender roles have always been constructed they are not natural.

As well as this many would argue that women and children have more value than men, as women can produce children and children are the future. Men are in place to protect both of these assets. In this explanation, men are expendable apex predators, therefore their value is lower. Therefore we are not actually equal to women.
