4/06/2016 - Evening update

Ok...I know this doesn't seem like a lot but it has genuinely taken me from 11am until now to do all of this (including breaks of course)

Today I have:
-77 German vocab mastered on Memrise (this didn't take long, maybe 45 minutes at most. I'll do more before I go to bed too)
-C7.1 notes completed (this took a reasonable amount of time, but it was relatively easy stuff)
-C7.2 notes completed (I've spent absolutely hours on this. It's SO LONG and I also wanted to take my time as this is the section of C7 that made me want to cry when we learnt it as none of it made sense at all, I get it now though )

I'm going to start C7.3 before I go to bed too. It's SO INFURIATING the amount of time I take to do things, I wish I was speedy like you lot :frown:

Wow, well done! It might not seem a lot to you but to me, you have done a lot! It's good to take your time when revising as it'll help you remember the information more! Speeds doesn't matter.

So. I have not really done much today because I went to sleep at 3 and woke up at around 7. I just went over my History notes, Business notes and Biology notes. I'm going to be doing some maths now.

School bits:
Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

(WJEC) English Language: A*
(WJEC) English Literature: A*
(Edexcel) Maths: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
(OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
(AQA) German: A*
(OCR Modern) History: A*
(AQA) Geography: A*
(OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of one eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

As great as this is you need to go outside more and do something, really you are wasting your time completely if you are getting higher than the A* band.
Did no revision for GCSE's and came out with A and A*'s paying no attention in class for 2 years.
You are wasting your time, go make some friends and do something more in life, GCSE's are almost meaningless in this day and age, no one will be impressed with how you got all A*'s as 90% of GCSE's are common sense!

Also the saying goes it's not what you know but who you know. Extremely true for getting far in life so go outside and meet people, bet your parents are worried you've got no friends or something?

Actually that is extremely judgemental - I do many other things outside of school, often more than my friends and other classmates who do very little studying - so don't go jumping to conclusions

I agree it is judgemental but that's due to seeing this happening in many kids who think there GCSE's mean something, you are getting close to full marks on mock papers, this sends alarm bells ringing because it means you are putting in more time the even the exam board expect you to, why may I ask?

Was a small jump but I've seen it happen in many people, they go through GCSE's alienating their friends and such because they are worried about them even though they get pretty much already get full marks on the exams. Why not just sit back and enjoy life for a while now knowing you can easily pass the exams with flying colours?

If you really feel the need to work I would recommend stop wasting your time on GCSE's as for 10+ hours work on a subject you may go up 1 mark tops as you are getting pretty much all of them already. It's not just about doing things it's about being with friends in stressful time, if you are doing so well offer them some help maybe?
Moreover as it seems you find the exams easy I would recommend looking over some basic A-level material for next year so in class you can be the top of your game, I wouldn't say this but you are putting in hours of hard work when you don't need to!

You are still young(ish) sit back a bit, go on a bike ride. Enjoy life while you can as I can't believe you are happy to be revising?

My next door friend in the same year did the same thing as you and he was playing rugby every weekend and sports but that is still very different from relaxing with real friends. He was doing so much his parents were quite worried he was becoming an complete introvert even with the rugby.

You have many years of hard work ahead of you so take it easy for now, as once you get to A2 exams then that's worth putting as much time in as you can. Then all the fun again at univeristy!

Just my 2 cents from a slacker

Ah ok, as you are talking from experience then I can see where you have come from. However, each case is different and I actually do enjoy revising. I offer to help my friends with their revision which I do very often and I have also started looking at A level material.

I don't believe that relaxing with friends is the only way to enjoy yourself and relax, but that is just my opinion. As for my parents, they don't mind what I do and have never been concerned over whether I have friends or not.

If you don't mind me asking, how much revision did you do at GCSE and what grades did you get
