Can anyone remember question 8 from the IAL paper?
Original post by Mattematics
Hm, so I lost 5 marks on 2b, 4 was a disaster (maybe 3 on the second part? Please?) and I WROTE DOWN the right limits but used the wrong ones because I was in a rush on 8b.

Joys.

I ****ed up badly on the paper too, What do you guys think the boundaries will be like?

I think 58-63 for an A -- they never change massively, but I think it was significantly harder than the last couple of years' papers.

Answers - let me know if they need to be edited (edit - typo on 5 and 3 fixed)
1) -2<x<-root2 -1<x<root2
2) shown x(x^2-3x-9)/2(x+2)
3)e^ipi(1/24, 13/24, -11/24, -23/24) shown
4) r/q(1-e^-(q/p)t) (2sinx-cosx+e^-2)/5
5) Coefficients are 1/16, -5/16, 10/16 shown
6) coefficients are 1 2 2 8/3 then shown
7) Ax^2+Bx-1/12x^(-2)
8) 21/4, (+-)arcos(3/4) 32.519 which I think was 3root7/4-11arcos3/4+49pi/4
Hope this helps everyone

On question 5, I divided by 2 not 2^5 and got coefficients 1,-5, 10 - considering there was a show that right after, but my method was pretty sound, I lost 6 marks, can anyone else second guess this? The total was 10 marks.
Vote on how hard you found the paper here. Could we also move the discussions onto this thread too to encourage more people to vote. Thanks

Looking at the June 2013 paper, the polar co-ordinates question was quite similar to ours. I'm hoping since I wrote down the right limits I shouldn't lose any marks up until substituting the limits in + the final accuracy. So with a bit of luck only 2 lost on that.

The rest.. just ugh. I did parts once on 4b before moving on so hopefully should get at least some method marks.

I think 7 or 8? Im more inclined to 7.
Guys at Q4, i did integration by parts. But instead of setting u=e^x and v'=sinx, i set u=sinx and v'=e^x. I still solved it, but i think i got wrong value for C. How many marks out of the 7 do you think i will get?

Seriously tho how many marks was it. Just part b.
An unrelated question. How do edexcel arrange you modules from Maths and F Maths?

Do they try and get you an A* in normal maths with the least UMS and then maximise UMS in F Maths?

@Zacken you any ideas?
