1/2 x 7 x 8 x sin(c) = 18
18/(1/2x7x8) =sin (c)

sin*-1 0.6(or whatever)

= 40.01

then i subbed it in:
1/2 x 7 x 8 x 40.01 = 18

But that gives you the bottom left angle, between the two sides used, not the angle that they asked for. This is part of the method.

It does cancel down though because 3x^2 -5x-12 also factorises to (3-x)(-4-3x) which then cancels out.

Ahh ok I get you. But, if it is dependent on the way in which you factorise it, hopefully there may still be marks:tongue:

You will probably get 1/2 I would think, but can't be certain

same

lool we can hope together:p:D
How many marks will i loose on last question if i forgot to take the angles from 180 put the the answer of 59.1 in 3.s.f
Got all the angles right but forgot to take from 180?

For question 7 it was 3.7 wasn't it? It was closer than the 3.8 value

3.7 seemed to be closer than 3.8 but you have to try 3.75 as well. 3.75 was also too small, so the answer must be between 3.75 and 3.8.

If I rounded down the angle to 40 and did the other parts do I get marks?
You'll probably get 3-4 out of 6 for that question if the rest of your answer was correct.

not with you on the last question

1/2 x a x b x sin(c) = area

1/2 x 7 x 8 x sin(c) = 18

it turned out to be like 40.01 I subbed it in and it worked

you figured out the wrong angle soz, you needed to figure out another one, so after getting 40 degrees you needed to use the cos rule to figure out the remaining side and then use the sine rule to figure out the angle

For the last question there seems to be a split between 80.4, 80.1 or 40?

40 was one of the angles in the triangle, but not the one asked for in the question, so you might get one or two marks instead. 80.4 was the most accurate answer, but 80.1 might be accepted as the only difference is that some numbers were rounded during the calculations.

soooo....

I messed up big time on paper one and only got around 68-74

however, using the mark scheme i got between 91 and 96, what would this get me?

Would I still get marks for everything else if that was the only mistake? I wrote the whole exam in pencil, and I'm told it doesn't count if it's not in black pen...

Pretty that's an A or A* for that paper (91 - 96)
