There are two methods for trial and improvement. In this case, one method returned 3.7 and the other returned 3.8.

For stem and leaf do u have to put 9/20 as a decimal to get the full marks

absolutely not on mark schemes it might give it as a decimal but it will say 'oe' (or equivalent). This is because the actual maths is correct
Original post by gro
what was ur answer? I got the right answer but i wrote yes for some reason, lol, silly me. but if you made the same mistake its because 7500 and under would mean the car depreciated by 50% as it costed 15000. If it was over this price, it was not as low as half yet.

I'm doing this because my friend just sat the paper and was confused, im doing A2 further atm and i got that the final value of the car was 6150 meaning it has depreciated beyond its half point (7500)?
Do you think the grade boundaries will be 170? Or even higher?

Guys, do you reckon for the last question there will be a range of answers? For example, a lot of people got 80.4 degrees, I got 80.1 degrees with other people as well. Please quote me with an answer!
looks like ive failed maths then

People only got a range of answers cause they rounded their numbers instead of using the full digits, so the people who didnt do that will probably got full marks

What if I used 3.142 for pie?

No its like saying 6-2 is the same as 2-6. They are different so u dont cancdl out

You can cancel out 3-x and x-3 in this way. Change the first top one with minus in front of one bracket to get -(3-x). You didn't change anything as minus turns it into X-3 when you get rid of the bracket which is the original one. It's like multiplying it by -1 but we never write -1, only as minus (-) in front of the bracket. Think of the rule (-) x (-) is (+) or (-) x (+) is (-). Same with division. But be careful as cancelling both brackets with the same value will live that minus out of brackets. It will give you a negative answer -1 or better say just minus. So, your example 6-2/ 2-6 becomes - (- 6+2)/ (2-6) which is exactly as you can write as - (-4)/ -4 = 4/-4 = -1 as rules of division and multiplication of the same and different signs (minus and plus) are the same.

I don't know what was the original exam question, but many here posted the answer as 3-X / (x-3)(3x +4). If correct, You do this -(-3+x) /(X-3) (3x+4), which is nicely written as -(x-3) / (x-3) (3x+4). See, you have the same brackets with (x-3) but one is with minus. So it must be minus in your answer as minus divided by plus is minus (-).
So, cancelling out two brackets with -(x-3) by (x-3) you end up with -1 / 3x +4 because of that minus (-) in front of the top bracket. You can write that minus right in front the division line of the fraction.

I really hope you understand it. If not, I am willing to explain it further. Cheers!

that was an A* last year i think, that will be a high A or low A* if grade bouandries are lower

Damn. You see I thought when it came to people you can't round another person as you don't have an extra 0.2 of a person, so I rounded it down :/

I wrote 10 aswell as my reasoning was exactly the same as yours. I think both 10 and 11 are accepted as they have been in past years👏🏻

b) 9/20=
0.45 (2 marks)
2a. 5a*2b*3c =
30abc (1 mark)
b. Factorise fully 3y +6 =
3(y+2) (1 mark)
c. Expand x(x-3)=
x^2-3x (1 mark)

chill ,cheers
the area of a triangle is 1/2 x a x b x sin(c). so you rearrange it to find sin(c) and then inverse sine it to find the angle on the left. then you i used the cosine rule to find out the length of the side opposite to the angle you just worked out (the right hand side length). then i used sine rule and got 80.4 degrees.
I had a bloody stomach ache in this exam. I couldn't think properly, it was so annoying. I managed to finish the paper which i am soooooo happy about but i swear im going to make my stomach regret what torture it put me through today
