Does anyone have DEBATES for BIOLOGICAL explanations of depression please??? D:

Gender bias because although hormones support theory as women three times more likely to be depressed could be due to hormone flcutation and pregnancy etc It may be due to socialisation women more likely to be emotional and express discomfort so women may not be more likely to be depressed its just men less likely to admit so

Reductionist as shown by claridge et al who found when given drug lowering seratonin and noradrenaline of non depressed patients they didnt show depressive sumptoms far too simplistic to assume just biology must be other factors such as environment interacting

Nature vs Nurture as twin studies for genes dont show 100% concordance rate therefore cannot be soley down to nature but environment is a factor and how those factors interact with each other because twin studies may have been treated similar which explained concordance rate not genes.

Hope that helps
depends on how well you do in unit 4 but you should be fine

if it was evolutionary explanation of relationships then yes you wouldn't get many marks but if it was aggression such as group display or jealousy and infidelity then no you wouldn't lose marks

Does anyone have a copy of the original paper (rather than the replacement which is on the AQA site) from last year? I'm just after the research methods questions

Hi, I do
for those doing addiction, i've just found this youtube series that basically covers loads of it, i've just started watching it and i think it's alright so yeah, worth a look if you need some help with the topic.

The first one is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-in13XCI6XE
IMPORTANT!

To those worrying about the explanation(S) question for addiction. I spoke to my teacher today (he is an examiner - as in he WRITES the exams for A2 Psych). He said that one would get away with sexual jealousy and infidelity for 4 marks (they would be treated as distinct explanations). He did admit that this was a tricky one but he said you did have to put both! Not just infidelity, for instance.

I guess so! I didn't ask him specifically about that.
