Need Urgent help on this chemistry question from AQA CHEM 4

I am stuck on question 6c, i'm not sure why the molecular ion formed is the carbocation and not the acylium ion.

The ion formed is the acylium ion? Since it has a MR 44. The plus sign indicates an ion whereas dot is the radical.

No the mark scheme says that the ion formed is the carbocation, but i am confused as to the reasoning behind it.

Is it because the carbocation is more stable since there are 2 oxygen atoms on the acylium
