M2 Questions

I have a few questions from a few M2 topics im struggling with...

1. What type of force(s) would you draw on a hinged rod. e.g.http://postimg.org/image/hvdrjosk7

2. How does thrust act on a rod e.g. http://postimg.org/image/j4rqcqfkh
3. Question 12 on http://postimg.org/image/6z53udsk1
4. Questions 5 and 6 on http://postimg.org/image/xm3o0uua9

Thats it for now

1.) I've drawn what it should look like. There has to be a force x acting right, otherwise the rod would be sliding to the left because of the tension in the string. There must also be a vertical reaction from the hinge, we don't really know what direction this is going in but I've modelled it going upwards.

2.) Thrust is just the 'push' from the rod. If there were no force from the rod the lamina would just fall.
3.) and 4.) I've looked at these two questions, but it'd be helpful to know what you've managed to do so far?

1) I posted this question before you helped me out with that hinge diagram yesterday
4) What ive come up with so far : http://postimg.org/image/ojoryh0hj

Good to hear you understand that now 😊
I'm sorry I took so long, I had an exam today. But I looked at your working and you definitely had the right idea. The key point you had to recognise was that in order for there to be a collision between B and C, the speed of B after its collision with A had to be greater than 3u, and that's how you get the inequality with e. I'll attach my working to makr it a bit clearer:
