Lactic acid has a chiral carbon, meaning chemical synthesis produces optical isomers whereas biological synthesis (fermentation) doesn't

Do you remember how many marks that question was?
Original post by EricPiphany
So you put three chiral centers on the tripeptide like a good boy?

Haha

Use of polyamide?

I put fibres in clothing

Don think it could have been a straight line coz there was 5 carbons but only 4 carbon environments so I did 4 in a row then a methyl group on end and Ketone on 2nd carbon

Yeah I did the same as you

That was an awesome paper.
Proud to say like the trolls in TSR exam threads it was a walk in the park.

Tsk, you always looked down at them, and now it's you.

No, calculator unrounded gave 2.66 for me. 2.65645.....

I agree i also got2.66 using unto undead calculator figures you're right
It couldn't have been because the Carbon -13 NMR gave 4 carbon environments, but your one would only have 3 as it would be symmetrical

Do you think they'll give me the mark for bullet proof vests?

I got that wrong too, how many marks do you think ill drop because of that?
Original post by maisym00
Oh god, I wrote about them being photobiodegradavle on exposure to UV😕 Oops

I put that too!

I put both down as I thought because its 3 marks they want a longer answer - I think both are valid points !
Questionable, it was nylon not Kevlar. But I don't really know.

I must have got it wrong then

Well I did both. May odds be in my favour
I talked about it being photodegradable. The thing that made me think that was the "technical terms spelt correctly". Photodegradable has been a 'spelling' mark on a previous paper.
what was the skeletal for the trans it was just a straight chain alkene at 12 right?

and for the triglyceride will they accept skeletal for the fatty acid chains?
I used 60% for the percentage yield question and got 2.61 :frown:, how many marks will I get out of 3?
also any predictions for 100ums (please don't say 60 lol)
amide hydrolysis question with HCL did you get nh3+ for the amine that had the alcohol attached to it as well?

A* - 54
A - 50
B - 46
C - 42
D - 38
E - 34
