I don't understand this question:

From the way the question is worded, I would assume you can just join A to the mains, then B to A, C to B etc, but obviously the sum of the orders of the nodes doesn't equal the number of connections. Can someone draw what the graph should look like as the mark scheme only says how many connections.

Each arc will require the electrician to make two connections - one at either end. So sum of orders of nodes will equal number of connections.

Your finished graph should look like a tree - any tree will do.

Thanks, I was interpreting 'connections' as arcs, it makes sense now :smile:
