I put that if you had too much phenol you wouldn't be able to measure initial rate or something like that.

exactly cause it would react with the bromine

What did you guys put for why you only use a relatively small amount of phenol?

I think it was due to the fact that you wanted the INITIAL RATE so that's when t=0. If you had a large amount of phenol you would not see a colour change quickly so it wouldn't be the initial rate? Something along those lines is what I put

Oh wait sorry it was 4.03 haha

Diprotic titration cuve question was hard, rest of the paper was OK though.

With the NMR spectra question, I drew the right peaks (TMS reference, singlet, triplet and quartet) but I swapped the position of one of the peaks. How many marks do you think I'd lose?

yeah me too

For the pH of the acid using Ka1?

Yeah
I definitely found this paper harder than any of the past papers :/

I don't think you'll lose any mark for not scaling correctly as long as you state the area ratio
I didnt draw TMS reference but I don't think it matters does it

Same. We probably lost 1 mark tbh.

You're not wrong

@C0balt how do you know when you have an excess ?

I am not sure. I said no new precipitate appears if you add excess...

I thought this too! but people are saying it was quite nice! what do you think the grade boundary for A* will be!?

I didn't draw TMS either. I got the peaks the wrong way round for the quartet and singlet so my area ratio was technically incorrect (but the numbers were correct in relation to my diagram). So I would probably lose one mark right?

Which way around did the peaks go? Was it Quartet, Singlet, Triplet?
****ing hell this is the hardest paper ive ever sat for

Yes
Guys judging from all the people you spoke to how do you think this exam was difficulty wise compared with past years?
For the phenol one would it be enough jist to say that it would take too long to change colour
