AQA History Unofficial mark scheme- Topics: America 1920's,Hitler Germany and Vietnam

America 1920's:
1) Wall Street Crash source 1928 (4 marks)
-You've got to mention ideas in the source itself, maybe even quote the source.
-Then explain what effect the source had generally, so a negative one on most American civilians causing depression perhaps.

2) Entertainment industry (6marks)
- Needed to make two detailed points.
- Such as:
1. Music eg Jazz
2. Dances such as the Black bottom became popular
3. Cinema/theatre
4. Sports

3) Quota Act/ Immigration source 1921 (10 marks + 3 SPaG)
-You had to mention that it was the Quota Act (as it didn't specify this) and why this was introduced.
- Any other interpreations from the source such as America were racist etc.
- Explain the idea of the source and how this represents American attitudes eg the Quota Act and limiting immigrants
- Explain or show knowledge of the provenance and how this is useful or not.
Useful= From an american so its an american viewpoint. Etc.
Not Useful= Only a cartoon, no facts, based on one Americans point of view.

Hitler Germany:
1) WW2 and its effects on German people during the war ( 8 marks) (THIS TOPIC IS NEW TO THE SYLLABUS THIS YEAR)
-Rationing
- Bombing
-Economy worsened
- Women had to take over male jobs
(ANY OTHER IDEAS ???)

2) What was the main reason Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933? (12 marks + 3 SPaG)
-Von Papen influenced Hindenburg's decision
-Obvs had to talk about propaganda
- Hitler himself as a good leader
-Nazi Tactics (Violence, flexibility so appealed to many kinds of people
-Influence from wealthily businessmen who provided Hitler with valuable resources
- Depression after Wall street crash led people to turn to extremist parties
-Weakness of opposition

Vietnam:
1) Media coverage and its effects in 1960's (8 marks)
-Protests/marches
-Tet Offensive media coverage
-My Lai massacre
-How the war did not directly affect USA
(any other ideas ??)

2) What was the main reason America struggled to win the Vietnam war? (12 marks + 3 SPaG)
-Vietcong tactics were string
-low morale of US soldiers
-US soldiers weren't prepared for conditions of jungle like Vietcong were.
-Obvs the bombing campaign failure

THESE ARE JUST GENERAL IDEAS.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Entertainment = jazz (duke Ellington), sports (babe Ruth) and theatre / cinema
You can't have an unofficial mark scheme for History tbh. It's subjective, there are certain points you can include definitely, but it's a writing subject so there's a wide range of responses.

Just some general ideas.
You can't have Kenn State for Vietnam 8 marker....It said in the 60s; Kenn state was 1970

WW2 much more helpful in ending Depression
did not help people who were poor before the Depression
Roosevelt tried to cut back on gov. spending later on, unemployment figure rose to 10 million

12 marker:

AGREE:
Hoover believed in ‘rugged individualism’ (poor fend for themselves)
New Deal helped more than Hoover (mention Alphabet Agencies for top marks e.g. AAA, CCC, PWA)
WW2 helped more than Hoover
Only tried to help last minute


DISAGREE:
Hoover Dam built along Colorado River
Emergency Relief Act ($300 million)
Soup Kitchens
Hawley-Smoot Tariff

And give a conclusion

Is it possible to have said that businesses were against it due to the new deal introducing the trade union to workers, and how republicans opposed it as it gave the government power?. (this is for the 8 marker by the way)

I put that, as well as some of the alphabet agencies not helping ethnic minorities therefore they opposed parts of the new deal
