Hi, i'm really in a hurry please help me

how to you solve

lx-2l - ( lxl - 2) ???

what are the rule of adding and subtracting modulus?

I tried squaring the modulus but i don't think thats how it works.

also they ask to sketch it.....

how on earth do i do that please help me my exam is tomorrow

Are you being asked to find x2x2 |x-2| - |x| - 2? Are you also asked to sketch y = ...?

yes

For solving it, I would suggest taking cases. :dontknow:

For sketching it - also take cases.

By cases, I mean, ranges of values of x so that you can work out what the modulus is of x-2 and x for those regions, and how you can combine them.

For example, one case would be when x2 x \geq 2. Whenever that is true, you can have an algebraic expression for x as mod(x-2) = x-2 and mod(x) = x.

The second case would be 0x2 0 \leq x \leq 2 and the expression would be...

and then there are 2 more cases to consider.

Latex doesn't want to work.. sorry! \geq means greater than or equal to and \leq less than or equal to.
