What does coding effect? I know it doesnt effect the PMCC but does it effect mean or anything?

Should be kind of logical that if you add 10 to all of your data values or you double your data values the mean you calculate will be bigger than the true mean. Coding always affects the mean and needs to be reversed to find the true mean.

However, if you just add 10 to all of the data values the "spread" of values isn't changed so the standard deviation you calculate is the same as that for the original data. If you multiply them or divide them this will affect the standard deviation you calculate. To find the real data SD reverse any multiply or divide in the coding but ignore any add/subtract.
