What's the criticism surrounding Mike Hill? The link in the zig zag booklet isn't working for me so if anyone could summarise what the article said on the website I would greatly appreciate it! ♡

Does anyone know where Cuadrilla have got with their appeal in response to the june 2015 rejected proposal, and what are they doing to strengthen their appeal?

They have changed their proposals saying they will build another road. Report comes out on the 9th July 2016.

Can anyone offer ideas as to answering this question....

Evaluate the methods that Caudrilla is undertaking to reduce the risks of fracking in the Fylde
Has anyone got any notes they would like to share that arent on the impacts??
also, cannot answer these questions.
1) Suggest why it is difficult to quantify the reserves ofshale gas in the UK. (8 marks)
2) Discuss how the UKis planning to improve its energy security in the future? (is this question suggesting the UK is planning to improve their energy security via fracking?)and also how could the process of fracking be improved?thankyou!
HELP!!! I'm really stuck for revision!!

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Like what we need to know and stuff? Please help!!

Three main reasons:

•

He's a member of 'Defend Lytham', Friends of the Earth and stood as an anti-fracking candidate at the 2015 General Election, so his views are likely to be slanted, possibly biased, in an anti-fracking way which means the evidence he gives might not be telling the whole story.

•

He's beefed up his credentials to make him seem like a more valid source than he is. As a DECC spokesperson said, "filling in a consultation form doesn't make him an adviser."

•

Some of his information is false. E.g. he says "the composition of the fracking fluids need not be closed by the operators because of 'commercial sensitivity'" when in fact the Environment Agency does require full disclosure, and Cuadrilla discloses its chemicals on its website anyway.

That's the gist of it, I think.

in the UK it doesnt necassarily because the BGS estimate the total recoverable reserves is 5.3 trillion cubic feet which accounts for around 2 years worth in the UK - Hardly enough to tear down prices as it does not have a great impact on the nations energy security. Also, gas prices fell in the US because they have a lower water cost and their shales were shallower than ours - it will be a more expensive process.
Also, cuadrilla are financed by shareholders who are foreign investors so much of the profits will be sent to them

1. Its yet to actually be explored because o one will let them there for are unaware of how much availability and they quality of the shale. they need to know this to be able to determine that price etc. also seismometers have not been allowed in ares making it harder to work out where the shale and how much there is

2. we rely heavily on the net import of gas from the north sea and therefore if we start fracking we can move away from this unreliable source and move towards fending for ourselves

there are many things!!! too many to put on here

have a look at the government reports on fracking and there is a youtube video on it which is linked a few pages back.

but few ideas is going to council meeting, speaking to locals, information on there website xx

Want to see what points people have made and if I'm heading in the right direction

Just out of interest, where did you find these questions as I only have the ones from the ZigZag booklet which I think I kind of know now

Also, as mineral rights are property of the crown, does that mean that some of Cuadrilla's profits go to the government as well as the shareholders? Sorry, fracking just confuses me

Do you have the zigzag book if so go through that.

if not search online fracking aqa 2016 and theres loads of websites that are really helpful to unpick all the figures

i would advise looking at lots of English sites rather that american as we have very different laws!

also have a scroll back through here and theres lots of helpful links and youtube videos that give you a wider understanding xx


Nah i wasn't given a Zig Zag booklet :frown:. I understand everything in the booklet but I'm worried about not accessing the higher marks in case I don't have enough wider reading... Safe anyway
