I did option 1 and 2, and option 1 I liked, option 2 was a bit iffy because of the wording but it was good

Yup I did the same and all of my class did too. I think it went well, i wrote 4 pages each but im worried it was too little. I was trying to not run out of time.

Yup! For number 2 did you talk about subcultural theory like Cohen?
4 pages is the expected amount for each question, it's not too little don't worry! :-)

Yup I did crime and deviance,
And I say iffy because of the wording of the question, the actual question was okay! Did you talk about subcultural theory for it?

Yeh it covered most areas of sociology so was easy to link studies and sociologists in. Yhyh talked about miller and his focal concerns to begin with then criticed with right realism and Murray. I mainly argued for social construct in society being a bigger factor than the deviant acts themselves so Gordon and Bongor for marxism then Cohen and Becker for interactionalism. Sort of dropped a ******* tho spent so much time on this question cause i liked it

Hey, does anyone know how many marks you can possibly lose if you wrote a really good answer for Q2 Crime and Deviance but only related it to class? Misread the young + males part :frown:
Did anyone include gender and Marxism ... I didn't write about subculture.

Yeah I talked about miller and focal concerns, to criticise it I talked about how not every male turns to crime or something like that..I forgot what i did XD
But i then talked about cohen - status frustration
Umm..I talked about something else,
I talked about Oakley - gender role socialisation - Working class males follow traditional values, messerschmidt - crime for status, uum I talked about katz - crime is thrilling, i mentioned supporting theories and stuff,
I've kind of forgot what I talked about tbh xD

Yeah I did the opposite, I spent more time on the ethnicity question because I liked that

What theories did you use? Most marxists talk about working class males, so I think you will be okay!

Hey I did it like that, I also messed up. But you can always retake next year or hope you did better in the other question. Or perhaps the way you have done it is right or you could get a lenient marker. my friend did it the gender way and she is predicted an A* so likely I did it wrong.
I answerd it as if it was an age subculture question.

I did New Right/Functionalism - Murray/Marsland/Hirschi/Durkeim/Merton and Marxism/Interactionism with lots of theories Bonger/Gordon/Althusser/Reimen/Box/Gold/Croall/Becker/Lemert and 2 more or so I think. I just never specifically said anything about gender or age, just class and I'm worried I lost lots of marks :frown:

I am predicted A* too :frown: So disappointing
Did anyone do the education questions?

Quite a lot of those talk about working class males, and it is primarily asking about differentiation of norms and values, working class and crime! Although you will lose some marks for not specifically mentioning gender or age, but I don't think you will lose that much based on the studies you have included

Would you say possibly more than 15-20 marks lost because of it or more? Trying to work out if I can still get an A* :frown:

Oh god no, I dont think it would be that much!!
Umm, so the question was:
outline and assess the explanation that working class males commit crime because of different norms and values? Is that the right wording of the question?

You can talk about the working class, and how they are exploited to commit crime - Marxism as a whole is known for focusing on working class males, so most likely any theory you include won't be completely irrelevant,
You will probably lose marks for not being specific, but I doubt that would cost you 15-20 marks!
Also Becker and Lemert is definitely relevant, and it shows evaluation as you've extended from marxism and stuff
Also Merton - Strain theory - His entire study was about working class males - that is completely relevant!
Hirshi - youth and social bonds - relevant
Plus you get marks not just for Knowledge and understanding, but appliance and evaluation and stuff,
Basically everything you have included can work with it, you will most likely just lose marks for not being specific enough, but you will most likely not lose 15-20 marks because of that, also I imagine alot of people did that same mistake, so they'll probably be lenient with it :-) It also depends how you worded the theories, but even if you didn't word exactly correctly, I doubt you would lose 15-20 marks

Thank you so so much for that,I feel much better about it now! It's just that they usually expect 'wide ranging' answers and I thought because they asked for age, class and gender, I'd lose quite a lot for basing it all on class. Thank you for your reply and hopefully they are indeed lenient with it. Good luck with G674!!
