Mamadou Sakho is expected to discover within the next three weeks whether he must serve a suspension for contravening Uefa’s drugs rules.

The Liverpool defender’s career has been on hold since it was announced he failed a drug test following the Europa League tie at Manchester United on 17 March. The 26-year-old was initially taken out of the Liverpool side by the manager, Jürgen Klopp, and then provisionally suspended by Uefa for 30 days.

Sakho missed the final eight games of Liverpool’s season, including the Europa League final defeat by Sevilla, plus selection for France’s squad at the European Championship as a consequence.

After opting not to have his B sample examined, Sakho’s lawyers have argued the fat-burning substance that resulted in the failed drug test should not be on Uefa’s prohibited list. European football’s governing body have been conducting their own investigation into whether that should be the case and have set a provisional date of early July for the disciplinary hearing.

Liverpool are due to start pre-season training on 2 July.

Karius unlikely to be called up for the Olympics, meaning he won't miss the start of the season.

Is there any reasoning behind him not being called up?
Is there any way we can avoid selling Allen?

His assist was absolutely perfect.
The Welsh Xavi indeed...

Germany aren’t short of goalkeeping options with FC Koln’s Timo Horn, Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno and Freiburg’s Alexander Schwolow also under consideration.

Allen was superb. He has actually been one of the best midfielders this tournament so far.

Not even in question.

He'll get overshadowed by the likes of Payet and Bale but my God, he has been terrific.

Watch us sell him for £5m now...

Klopp already made his mind up.

He's gonna sell the welsh pirlo and buy garbage (dahoud, Zielinski etc);

Pls no

I'd legit us rather keep Allen and sell Henderson if we're gonna buy Zielinski.

It's just complicated because he's our captain - I understand Rodgers putting his faith in him and having Gerrard's backing but he has been hindered through injury and his development just isn't there.

The fact is that he isn't good enough to be a guaranteed starter, so he can't be our captain.
Allen's issue is that he's not big enough. Klopp's Dortmund team were big and physical - Henderson gives you that but Allen cannot grow another 6 inches.

I don't think Allen is better than Henderson - the latter has been unfortunate since we've seen a player hampered by injury. Allen will go back to Swansea imo.
Yh, if Allen was taller or bulkier than he would still be in the team but he can get bullied off the ball against physical opposition which is why Klopp has been playing Milner over him. It's a shame because he offers attributes that the team needs and neither Can or Henderson can offer those attributes.

Unless Henderson gets his **** together, he will slowly be phased out of the first XI as Can is likened more by Klopp and he has a higher ceiling and we are in for a CM that will bring qualities that Henderson cannot offer when playing in a midfield two.

I would also sell henderson

As for Zielinski, he won't offer what we do not already have

Allen makes tackles, successful tackles. Something that henderson doesn't do.

Barcelona only have one giant (busquet) in the midfield. And they do fine. Also allen has had no problems in the midfield so far, dont see his physicality being an issue.

We have a tank (Emre can) for protection.

Henderson + Can midfield has proven time after time to be a disaster

Well in the Southampton game at St Mary's, he simply was dominated by Wanyama in the second half. Barcalona may not have tall players but none of their players are pushovers either, they have enough strength to retain the ball (tbh their league isn't as physical as ours so not a fair comparision imo), not sure if Allen can retain the ball up comfortably against physical opposition. There is also the issue of long balls which Allen will have to face against taller players, chances are he will lose those aerial duels and we lose control of the midfield and concede goals (something that has been the recurring theme for the past season)

Well there's must be a reason why Rodgers and Klopp both favoured Henderson over Allen. Henderson's numbers stack up fine. Not sure Allen can dominate a midfield enough (whether physically or just by passing/movement).

Barcelona can afford to have a team of midgets because they are so free scoring and previously held so much possession. When we're able to retain possession so well, we can keep Allen?

Not sure how it proved to be a disaster? They were actually a pretty good combination until Henderson's injury took a toll on him.
£7m bid rejected for Ben Chilwell, Leicester want £10m. We're considering Hull's Robertson as an alternative.

We've put in a £30m bid in for Mane.

Allen likely to leave Liverpool for Swansea for £10m.
Won't be long until lfc fans call for Klopp's head at this rate if things don't work out.

You're right about long balls. Which is why we need to play a 433 if allen isn't sold. A rock solid CDM with Can and Allen is sufficient than buying Zielinski.

Its a disaster in terms of creativity, henderson and can are not mobile and they're vision is trash.

I dont have to praise allens vision you already know he's very creative.

All im saying with this allen issue is that if KLOPP sells him and buys Zielinski or dahoud (who are both downgrades) then KLOPP can go **** himself.

Reclying an AMG with a bicycle(s).
