oh **** , i just described recrystallization

i did recrystallisation as well?

it was recrystallisation

Pretty sure it was recrystallisation as it mentioned the purified 'solid'.
on the last question did you protonate both NH2 groups or just the one?
Original post by nicklongy
Recrystallisation is correct, it was purifying an impure solid

Yes!
What did everyone do for the vanadium ions 5 marker?
YAYYYYYYYY it was recrystalization!!!!!!!!!! . How are you meant to dry the solid , i just mention suction filtration with a buchner funnel and adding anhydrous calcium chloride?
which were the conjugate acids and bases?

I protonated both groups . You werent meant to deprotonate the oh group on the molecule with nh2 on were you , just the other molecule was deprotonated?
what did you guys put for that wierd benzene mcq , i did the one about ti having a lower enthalpy level or something

Not sure what you mean. The COOH group would have gone to COO-

Oh ****! then

First reaction with Iodide ions was feasible to get VO2+, Ecell around +0.46 I think?

Second reaction was not feasible Ecell -0.20V so remained at V(IV)
what was the equation for CuCl2 with HCl and Cu(s) ?

Ah thats what I got as well!!
feel like you can do both separating funnel and recrystallization, similar q came up ive seen and it was about purification with sodium hdrogencarbonate to remove acid then separate and distill then add anhydrous calcium chloride

I did too

the molecule with the amine groups on also had an oh group on . The oh group didnt lose a proton did it ?
5 mark calculation 95.13% anyone?

Cu2+ + Cu + 4HCl = 2(CuCl2)- + 4H+ ?
