What did you get for tye constant, i think in got 1
Alright exam, i just couldn't finish 3b and 8a. Friend told me how to do 8a, but can anyone show me how they did 3b, i seperated the integral and got arctanhx for one term, but didn't have time to find a method to integrate the 2nd part.
How did everyone find it ?
I thought it was very difficult!

I thought it was slightly harder than last year.. I'm hoping the boundaries will reflect that

I got 1 too. I'm not confident though my friend got 5 too
Could you do the induction?
realised how to do q3b the moment i got in the car afterwards + didnt have enough time to do the last two in 8 properly but other than that i think it was ok ?? can anyone remember how many marks 3b was worth ?

thought it was a lot. how annoying :/
Well that was lovely, I had literally no sleep last night but found it completely fine, easier than 2014/15 I think.

Pretty sure I've got 75 since I spammed every tool on my calculator to check all my answers thoroughly for half an hour lol.
50/609

hyperbolic integration: 6root2 + 3cosh^-1x+5

root3pi/18

any familiar?
also, was the minimum value of argw 2pi/3?

Same :P Although may have dropped a few method/explanation marks somewhere.

Nah I reckon you've got 75/75 .
If anyone wants to know how the induction went:

(1+p)11+p(1+p)^1 \geq 1+p obviously, so base case established.

Assume (1+p)k1+kp(1+p)^k \geq 1+kp. Clearly we need to multiply by 1+p1+p and we can do so without changing the sign of the inequality because p11+p0p\geq -1\Rightarrow 1+p \geq 0.

Therefore (1+p)k+1(1+kp)(1+p)=1+p+kp+kp2=1+(k+1)p+kp21+(k+1)p(1+p)^{k+1} \geq (1+kp)(1+p)=1+p+kp+kp^2=1+(k+1)p+kp^2 \geq 1+(k+1)p, since p20p^2 \geq 0, k1kp20k \geq 1 \Rightarrow kp^2 \geq 0.

Therefore result holds for n=k+1n=k+1 and by induction we have result.

Idk how many marks I'd lose for the constant :/
Yeah I stared it for like 15 mins I couldn't work it out
What was 3b about that everyone's talking about?
