Personalised or generic? Has anyone heard anything negative yet?

Posted from TSR Mobile

Personalised, so I imagine the invites will trickle through during the rest of the day.
Has anybody heard from 5KBW post-2nd round?

They're in the gateway you won't hear until 1 August.

Thank you. Does you Status for 2HC still say "first interview" or? The paper they gave us yesterday said that we should hear back from them by 25th June, which is Saturday.

Anyone heard anything from Monckton yet? Or in light of what's happened, are they not taking any pupils?

I struggle to see how the requirement to unravel 40 years of European jurisprudence would translate to a need for fewer lawyers...

No it says second interview. But like I said I got it straight away, there will likely be a second sift.
Any news from Outer Temple? Interviews are down for next weekend-first and second rounds - so we should hear soon?

Oh lucky you! When was your first round? Still holding onto the hope that my gateway still says "first interview" - and my interview was yesterday. :frown: really hope they give me a second round.

Fingers crossed! First round was on the 15th. Some are rejected and some have second rounds already. But I haven't been told to book a slot yet so they could be deciding. Try not to worry!

There was an interesting post on Monckton's website about the opportunities and challenges resulting from the referendum result. I don't think it will effect how many pupils they take on, but I do think they have waited for the result before making their decision. Maybe they will look for something slightly different in light of the result.

Ooh that was ages ago! I think my interview was the last day of first round interviews they were holding. So maybe they are still sifting and hopefully I'll hear back by tomorrow.

Red lion still says "under consideration" and 9-12 Bell Yard still says "Applied". This is waiting game 😪

They're expanding into public law, too. I could see them taking pupils with an eye to developing more of that side of their practice.

As for the previous poster, unravelling 40 years' worth of EU jurisprudence a) isn't junior Bar work and b) is something that they have enough barristers for. I can't see a pupil specialising in EU law just for the purpose of unravelling it all.

Ah okay, thanks for that! I think I have to assume it's a rejection then. Was it a personalised email? Sorry for all the questions!

Garden Court changed to Under Consideration on Gateway, but no email. Does anyone from last year or otherwise know if this means I have been rejected?
Original post by 901dL
Thanks! Do you remember what sort of questions they asked? I imagine they'll change the questions and statute from last year but would be good to get a feel for what to expect.

Sorry I have taken so long to reply. So they use a few different pieces of legislation as I heard people taking about different things when they came out. The run a few panels at the same time on the day. Someone had a medical type of act, wish I could remember now. Mine was on police powers and there was another but it escapes me...have done the BPTC since then so memory not what it was ha.

You can make notes and take them in with you it isn't a memory test which is good. It was really just questions on interpreting the Act. So things like "in this scenario, could the police do ABC" and you think about what you read and apply it, It is only a couple of sides to read, do not forget to turn over I know some people did!

No other question at all just I think 8 on the legislation that is it.
