As my father is a Dutch citizen while my mother and I are British citizens, could I become a Dutch citizen as well?

That's something you need to look up on a Dutch official website. Citizenship rules vary from country to country.

I've only skimmed it but if I understand correctly then you have to relinquish your former nationality if you're becoming a naturalised citizen after living there, you wouldn't be one with a Dutch parent.

I was initially concerned for you re. 'You are an adult and you have not made every effort to give up your original nationality after you acquired Dutch nationality.' but from the look of it you probably had Dutch nationality from birth due to your father being Dutch. I don't know whether your parents registering your birth in Netherlands (when they did that, if they did that) will have had any role to play. You should probably contact a Dutch embassy for help with this, if not the authorities in the Netherlands that handle this stuff. Presumably your parents have some idea of what the deal is?

Lol, don't get me started.

It appears so as there's nothing to say you can't. Just email or phone them to find out.

My Nan on my Dad's side was Scottish and he's lived there for 15 years so I'll be applying for a Scottish passport if they vote for independence and remain in the EU.

Incidentally I live in Denmark and will likely be applying for citizenship as soon as I am eligible, for the same reason. Though if any country were to leave the EU next I suspect it would be Denmark, so...

A public opinion on whether to leave or remain is not undemocratic just because you don't agree with it. They are also most certainly not being "kicked out of the EU" either

Hi! If your father is married to your mother, then yes! Otherwise, your father must have acknowledged his paternity before your 7th birthday or he needs to prove he's your biological father through a DNA test.

yes and be citizens of both (although some countries may make you reject citizenship of another to gain theirs so worth a look)

I don't know for the Nederlands at all sorry.

But I can tell that for Ireland you just need someone on either your mum's or dad's side to pick up the dual nationality.

In my case it's my mum, her family are from Ireland.
