Cornwall:

Wales receives £500m a year as a result of EU funding... goodbye to that. Maybe Farage will spend the £350m a week that he promised on the NHS in Wales instead? Lol, who the **** am I kidding. He'll probably pocket it.

I think everywhere in England except for London is anti-EU, sadly. What made you want to leave?

You want the honest truth?

The Common Fishery Policy. It destroyed my Grand Fathers & Uncles livelihoods. It completely destroyed Grimsby as a town which took the trawler count from 400 to 10! If you go to Grimsby your see the kind of poverty that is there.

I want the EU to be destroyed. Nothing would please me more if Putin invaded parts of the EU. Hopefully the EU is already breaking at the seams.

For me its a matter of revenge.

A lot of that was down to the weakness in the way the British governments of the time negotiated. However, at least you have legitimate grievances, unlike many of the Leave voters who simply 'can't stand all the immigrants' even when they live in areas with extremely low immigration. Striking that London, which has the highest, was Remain by a wide margin - can't all be middle class liberals.

More interviews on news sites in from around the country on why people voted Leave.

In Sheffield, the BBC interviewed numerous working class people, for example, market traders. The consensus was that they hadn't expected a Leave vote to actually mean leave would happen.

Ebbw Vale voted Leave (despite having the biggest EU regional aid in the country) mainly (according to the Guardian this morning) because "we don't like the government". As in many other working class areas, the vote was wrongly seen as a referendum on Cameron and Osborne. The people in these areas who voted Leave are going to find out soon that the alternatives are much, much worse.

In parts of the Home Counties, according to reports on Radio 4 yesterday, voters thought we were under direct rule from Brussels. "We got rid of the Germans controlling our taxes", was one comment. Voters in many areas with no immigrant presence said that immigration was their chief concern. UKIP has clearly officialised racism and made it broadly acceptable, especially in traditional Tory and rural areas.

Some Leave voters in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News, did not in some cases realise we were voting to leave Europe, they thought the vote was something to do with the football according to one report.

Project fear has now turned into Project undermine democracy.
The person that started it was a Brexiter. Oh, this is sweet.

There is a 100 more reasons I want out of the EU but that is the main one. I guess you now know where all my family comes from now. They where dock workers and engineers. Then along comes the EU with its red tape and destroys dozens of coastal towns .....................

Then this year Bob Geldof and the London Luvvies come and give my brethren 2 finger salutes. There is no wonder some Eel fisherman threatened to ram the IN campaign boat. Instead they got a good soaking and a load of broken amp equipment.

I would of done a lot more than that. I would of got on the IN boat and chucked Bob Geldof in the river.

I am interested, this being a student website, if there is any correlation between asking for/not asking for a second referendum and asking/not asking for a remark of your A levels. Points of principle are being quoted and I was wondering if they held true across the board, i.e. being satisfied/not being satisfied with the first result you got.

I felt disgusted by that too, some people are better kept away from legitimate campaigns and Geldof is nearly always one of them.

The petition has no legal standing. At best it can require Parliament to consider (and not necessarily even have) a debate, that's all.

I'm sure there are quite a few mickey mouse signatures. But out of 3 million the vast majority will be genuine.

Lots of the people signing have been people living in Eastern Europe.

An EMP would be enough to bring the entire of the UK down. Our security forces know this. That is why Putin has been flying his bombers to get within missile range of London.

As for the USA Putin has special kind of submarine which can shoot though solid rock. This is dangerous because it could ignite all the methane under the Mississippi river and cause a major earthquake tearing the USA in 2 pieces. No lies. This is real.

This made my day
They are great, we need to get them trending
there is honestly no point in them having another referendum if they're not going to let 16 and 17 year olds vote this time, because the results won't change a lot. the thing is, farage said that if remain won 52-48, then he wanted a second referendum. now that leave have won by 52-48, it would only be fair to do the same thing. yes, democracy has spoken, but it is a shame that it has spoken in the way that it did...

It's not just remainers that petitioned. Many of those who voted leave are now regretting their choice as they feel terribly misinformed and deceived(e.g. Farage backtracking and saying that the £350 million pounds that we supposedly send to the EU would not be going to the NHS instead-contradicting what the leave campaign previously claimed)

'Many of those' - how many exactly is that? I'm sure, had the boot been on the other foot, Remain would have gone back on plenty of their promises and the end result would be the same- people changing their mind on what they voted. But the fact is, people voted for what they voted for, it's their own fault if they blindly believed everything that was promised the them. Politics has always been dodgy and politicians do lie and twist facts. As I said, I'm sure Remain were telling plenty of their own porkies.
