Power * 5 * 60 = (raspberry mass + pan mass) * (c for raspberry + c for pan) * delta T

Posted from TSR Mobile

That's incorrect.
It should be E = (Raspberry mass * Crasp) + (Pan mass * C pan) all multiplied by delta theta.
Re-arrange to find dtheta.

I got 11.6 for the temp, I added the m and c respectively. Would I lose 1?

Yeh probably 1 lost.

Yep. That is the way to do it I think.

Yeah, that seems reasonable. Tbh I didn't know what to do anyway, just thought it'd be best to try something.

Yea
E1 = M1C1 dTheta
E2 = M2C2 dtheta
E1+E2 = power*time
rearrange to find theta. Too bad I didn't actually do that, it only came to me after the exam.
I took the average C instead.

The answer came to me only after the exam. I took the average C instead.
For the time question, what you're supposed to do is to use a sine function, makes it a hell of a lot easier.
Period = given time * 2
W = 2pi/period
then use 0.6 = 2.3 sin wt
find t
multiply t by 2
then subtract the answer from the given time.

Btw, I forgot to multiply the period by 2, how many marks would I lose?

How did you find this paper? I realise you seem very good in physics. I'm hoping for an A, any idea on grade boundaries? 55 for an A and 60 for A*?

I did the same but used cos instead of sin.

Well, the short answer is that I don't know. A lot of the qualitative questions were obvious ones that came up before, however, there was about 15 marks worth of tricky questions. Possibly 62-66 for an A* I reckon.
I personally lost around 10-15 marks.

what did u get for 5 mark shm

There was a given time??

Yea the time for the shutter to go up and down. It was 4.3 or something of the sort.
I'm quite sure for the 5 mark SHM question the answer is 3.04 seconds.

I got the wrong answer as I forgot to time the period by 2 in the method I described above.

what was the amplitude of d thing

Depends. If you use a sine function then the amplitude is 2.3 and the period is twice the period given. If you use a cos function then the amplitude is 2.3/2

This is what I got. I did 0.7 + 0.7 + half the time period :smile:
Guys what was the very last question? Was there a question about the conditions of fusion? I seem to have missed that. Was that right after the joules calculation?
