Immigrants taking OUR jobs

Why is the Remain camp saying that leavers worrying about immigrants "taking our jobs" is racist?I work as a PT and dont worry about Europeans coming in to replace me. However, there aren't enough low skilled jobs in the UK

There are vacancies in things like nursing but not everyone can train to be a nurse.

Why cant this country have jobs for its own people first? Uncontrolled immigration (letting in EU people with no jobs) means its harder for working class British people to find work. People on benefits, or younger people with no work experience. Also, some employers are crooked and hire people from Eastern Europe who they pay under the minimum wage, or make them work illegal hours bc they dont know their rights.

Also it decreases wages and increases housing costs, meaning we need to concrete over the English country side just for foreigners that are only here for money.
Idk about you... but these threads are beginning to get on my nerves something chronic now.

And that's why people don't complain about Indians working in Indian takeaways or Chinese working in Chinese takeaways...

Yes, most employers are happy to pay EU people peanuts rather than an honest wage to a British worker, problem is we cant send all our low skilled workers to Poland to find jobs lol

Did you read the OP, Im talking about low skilled jobs, the ones people on benefits apply to
Yeah the problem is is that the person who's come over from abroad is perhaps going to work harder because they- you know- came all that way to find a job here? If I had a job emptying bins to fill and I had John who'd just left school and Pavel who'd just arrived here and hardly spoke English, who can I gamble on staying longer? Stereotypical but valid.
Also, I guess Eastern Europeans are more compliant as Brits are used to being given benefits etc on a plate and are more likely to complain and say they don't want to do stuff etc. So unscrupulous employers offering low skilled jobs are snapping them up..
Also (I'm not xenophobic, voted remain etc) I am actually getting quite frustrated with the amount of people working in service jobs who can't speak basic English. A shop assistant didn't know what a melon was a few days ago, I forgot my loyalty card and the Eastern E workers didn't understand what I meant by validating the receipt to add the points later..
Unemployed, unskilled Brits need to stop *****ing about migrants and learn from them. We don't live in some socialist fantasy where you get a job just because of your nationality. You've got to earn it in a competitive labour market. The advantage migrants have is obvious, they are willing to migrant to find employment. Maybe Brits should be willing to show the same level of initiative and be willing to move to where there are jobs, rather than expecting employment to come to them.
Worried about being undercut on wages by migrants? Get unionised. Campaign for a higher minimum wage. Maybe even call for reintroduction of closed shop. All of those would preclude or reduce the possibility of being undercut - but blaming foreigners is just so much easier, isn't it?
If you are worried about an immigrant 'stealing' your low skilled job then perhaps it is you who needs to evaluate whatever skills you currently have and improve them.

You know I'd rather get these poles in a union so employers who think like yourself will not be able to exploit them.

Yeah poles are less likely to complain about having no breaks. That doesn't mean Brits are wrong in wanting to be treated better.

Have you actually done any of these jobs? There are plenty of Brits as well as Polish workers so you can stop painting all British non skilled working class people as being lazy. What does non skilled even mean? I'm doing these jobs and I have a degree. The jobs are non skilled but that doesn't mean the people who do them are necessarily non skilled themselves. They already do these **** jobs and there are many of them who go from temp job to temp job all the while on benefits because that is the only way they would have any hope of actually feeding their children with their precarious low paid employment with hardly any worker protections.

omg what city?
I'm employed and my wage has increased so i'd suggest this is not an issue for everybody.

Being more serious though, i'd point out that even in yesteryear (bar the 50's) there have always been more unemployed people than available job vacancies and that during the previous business cycle we saw the ratio as low as any other time when you take away the old non jobs created by nationalised industries.

Now i do agree that a certain proportion of the unemployed probably would be able to find low skilled work if they were not competing against other immigrants so there is an argument to stop the most unskilled but it's folly to suggest that employers should take our least unskilled, thick and potentially those with a criminal record over say a Polish girl who's only crime is that she wants to work.

Brexit or no Brexit (and i voted for Brexit) my own views on immigration remain the same which is that we should accept not a single other refugee (bar translators) and that we should maintain free EU movement but essentially remove the free part in the literal sense of the word by requiring proof of education in English and Maths to a level 3 standard and a cash payment for permanent residency. I would also extend this to the Anglosphere and Tigers while reducing other non-EU immigration.

Because of the trend of the "politically correct" trend. A society that is banned from making descriptive observations. It's terrible the way this country is being run. A illegal Mexican can come to our country and receive subsidized housing, habe EBT to feed his 20 kids and a free education. Most of them are work on construction jobs and gets paid under the illegal aliens should be deported and come back when they earn their citizenship. It should be mandatory for them to learn our language. They would have to report their earning for one year so they can start paying taxes. One more thing the options when you make a call always ask if you want to use Spanish. This should all be eradicated. Thanks for listening.
NOT A DIRTY OLD MAN.
